HASH(0x980122ac) out of 5 stars Great Guitar, but not excellent. 2 July 2014

Not a bad guitar sound quality wise. I'm a novice beginner, so I'm fairly content with the sound quality and the price for sure. The guitar comes as is, nothing comes with it but a L-shaped wrench (no pick, no tuner, etc.) When I received the guitar, it was horribly out of tune. Make sure to download a Guitar tuner app on your phone to check all the notes. The strings are fairly rough in the beginning, but since I am a learning student, I'll have to do. I know there are guitars out there that cost $150+ that have gentler strings so it doesn't hurt as much on the tips of your finger when pressing down on the strings. This guitar, however, will hurt at first for inexperienced fingers. Since I didn't buy a pick, I made one out of an expired credit card. There are 2 silica gel packets that will be inside the guitar when you first open it, make sure to take them out before tuning/playing - it will interfere with quality of sound. Absolutely nothing comes with the guitar, so if you need a case, pick, tuner, capo, etc - buy them separately. The product was designed in Australia, but Made in China (so the wood is cheap and the joining of the halves can be seen in a very visible crease). Sound quality wise, it's good for an amateur.

HASH(0x993ce81c) out of 5 stars Great Guitar! 24 Feb. 2014

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I am relatively new to the guitar so I apologize if my review is not incredibly technical. I can tell you a few things with certainty though. This is a great guitar. First of all, it looks beautiful. The color is light and clean and simple. The finish is smooth and clear. I was very happy when I opened the box, to say the least. As for tuning, it was relatively easy. (as a beginner). The guitar holds the notes very clearly with little adjustment needed. The sound is strong and clear and perfect! You could not ask for a better guitar at this price! I am a very happy customer.
HASH(0x98ffa360) out of 5 stars Great Sound At A Competitive Price 27 Feb. 2014

Ashton is a musical instrument company with its headquarters based in Australia but I believe most products are manufactured in China. They produce various string instruments such as acoustic and electric guitars, banjos, ukuleles, as well as drums and percussion instruments, amps and PA equipment. This is the first Ashton product I've owned.

The Ashton D20 feels a bit light but that's probably due to my being used to the heavier guitars I normally play. For someone who is starting out, the lighter weight would be a good thing. The D20 has a spruce top which is common for many acoustic guitars and has a nice resonance. The sides/back are made of basswood. and the neck is made of maple with a rosewood fretboard. The guitar has a very thin, satin finish which helps give a more natural sound. The build quality seems good but being fairly light, the Ashton D20 doesn't feel like it could withstand any knocking around.

The D20 has a nice bright, balanced sound across the entire range. I found that using medium weight strings brought out the most in sound potential, but that's just my personal preference. There is hardly any fret-buzz which is nice. My playing style is mainly chords along with some fingerstyle and the light action on the fretboard fit well with that.

Along with the guitar, the Ashton D20 came with an Ashton guitar pick and a hex wrench for adjusting the truss rod.

This is a great beginners guitar at a very competitive price. For its price range, the sound quality is much better than many of the lower priced guitars in its class. I would definitely recommend this product.
HASH(0x993a3a2c) out of 5 stars Beautiful Guitar and Sound 20 Feb. 2014

Ashton D20 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar not only looks beautiful but it can also make beautiful music. I am a student with very little guitar practice but even I can appreciate the quality. The pictures are almost 100% on the color ( mine is slightly lighter) so if you enjoy a simpler look then this is the right guitar for you. Made from Spruce, Basewood, Rosewood, and Maple with a matte finish give it a very classic feel.
Sound quality is perfect and just what I would expect from a guitar so well made. After tuned the sound coming out was crisp.
As a student learning how to play I have to say how happy I am with this guitar. Not only it is made well, looks beautiful, and sounds outstanding but the price isn't over the top.
