Product Description

Written by the eminent 11th century Hanafi scholar, Abu 'l-Ikhlas al-Shurunbulali, Ascent to Felicity is a concise yet comprehensive primer in creed and jurisprudence. It spans all five pillars of Islam, as well as the topics of slaughtering, ritual sacrifice, and hunting. To supplement the text, the translator has added key explanatory notes taken from several reliable works on theology and jurisprudence. He has also added appendices that comprise numerous supplications related to the five pillars, presented in Arabic script along with English transliteration, as well as the etiquette of visiting the Messenger of Allāh (Allah bless him peace) in Madina.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Gem 11 May 2013
By Adam Isaac - Published on Amazon.com

I have been looking for a long time for a good book on Hanafi Fiqh - something as comprehensive as the Shafii Safinat un Najjah. Finally, I have found what I was looking for in this great book. The main text is a great summary and the work that Mr Khan has done in supplementing this with notes gives it a comprehensive nature that one would desire out of a primer such as this.

The book highlights some basic creed and is followed by the correct details of Islamic practice the Hanafi Way. To be honest, the work is so fantastic, we would hope that the same translator works on other texts that go beyond the five pillars so we can have something in Hanafi fiqh along the lines of Nuh Ha Mim Keller's excellent translation in the book "The Reliance of the Traveller".

I have to admit that I have not completed this book - I read a topic at a time absorbing the correct practice and implementing that before I move on so that I do not forget to implement what I learn. However, the book is too good not to spare a few minutes in the middle of my reading to write the type of review it deserves - and I know I have fallen short.

May Allah bless both the writer and the translator with abundance in all spheres both in this life and the next. Ameen.
