Luc Besson writes and directs this part-animated, part-live action sequel to the adventure film 'Arthur and the Invisibles'. When Arthur (Freddie Highmore) goes to stay at his grandparents' house for the holidays, he is befriended by a tribe of elfin-like miniature beings known as the Minimoys. When Arthur receives a distress call from the Minimoys, he embarks on a perilous mission to rescue their princess Selenia (voiced by Selena Gomez) and her brother Betameche (Jimmy Fallon) from the clutches of villainous wizard Maltazard in the forbidden city of Necropolis.

Having watched the forst movie titled Arthurs incredible journey where you are introduced to the Minimoys that live in Arthurs grandparents garden. Well this is the second adventure my children eagerly awaited to see what happens this time around. We were not disappointed! Superb graphics, storyline, animation, vocabulary a good allround family entertainment film. It is fun trying to identify the voice overs however in the first Madonna was the lead female unfortunately this changed so that was a shame for me kids didnt notice. Definately recommend my kids are 8 and 10 boy and girl both loved it.

I made the mistake of buying Arthur and the Great Adventure at the same time as Arthur 3 and the War of Two Worlds. They are identical!!!!!!! There is nothing in feedback on either that suggests these are the same film - but they are..... Hugely disappointing...

ARTHUR AND THE GREAT ADVENTURE [2009] [Blu-ray] Family Fantasy Hits The Spot!

When Arthur uncovers a distress call sent from Minimoys, the invisible people who live in his own back yard, he knows that once again, he must embark on a great adventure to battle against the evil Maltazard and save Princess Selenia. Little does he know that this is an evil trick by his arch nemesis to reverse the magic of transformation to become a giant when Arthur passes into the Minimoy's world. Now at less than half an inch tall, Arthur must save his own world from a giant evil Maltazard. Will this little hero have what it takes? Acclaimed and visionary director Luc Besson, in the follow up to Arthur and The Invisibles, brings us this brilliant, live action, computer animated, family adventure, starring Freddie Highmore, Mia Farrow and Selena Gomez with Jimmy Fallon, Snoop Dogg, Will.i.am, Fergie [Black Eyed Peas], Iggy Pop and Lou Reed. ‘Arthur et la vengeance de Maltazard’ (Original French Title).

I did wonder whether this film would be as good as the first one, as often the second film tries to match the first and fails.
But I can honestly say this film was just as good and very enjoyable.
Both my children enjoyed the film and wanted to watch it again. Always a good sign with kids!
The animation is brilliantly done and the plot so enthralling that you are with Arthur in the film (if you know what I mean).
Brilliant, entertaining, magical, good plot, good ending.
Thank you.

`Arthur and the Invisibles' was a French made CGI cartoon that came out of nowhere and impressed me. Its French origins meant that it had a different look and feel from the usual American cartoons, but it also had great characters and story. The follow up, `Arthur and the Great Adventure' should essentially be the same again. However, this time all the elements that just managed to work, fail. Freddie Highmore returns as Arthur, but the majority of the cast have been revoiced. Who would have thought you would miss Madonna and David Bowie in a movie? When the replacements are Iggy Pop and Selena Gomez, you soon realise that Bowie and Madonna have far better ranges of voice acting than some.

Even with a slightly different cast the film should still have worked due to the sheer imagination of the world. There are moments that are breath taking; the opening scene of Minimoys farming, or the chase scene involving rats. Elements cherry picked from the film work, but as a whole it is one of the most confused and messy films I have seen since `Men in Black 2'. More of `Arthur 2' takes place in the real world and this is not a good thing. The CGI characters look incredible within the real world and suggest that a `Who Framed Roger Rabbit' remake would work brilliantly, but what they are doing makes no sense. The story remains a confused dog's dinner and utterly undermines any of the ideas on the screen.

I still believe that the worlds of Arthur and the Minimoys have plenty to offer, but the team behind the films need to spend more time concentrating on the story, rather than making the films visually stunning. The third in the series, `Arthur and the Two Worlds War', is likely to get an UK release, I hope it is better than the unfortunate second outing.

actually Arthur and the great adventure is an edited version of Arthur 2 the revenge of maltazard and Arthur 3 the war of the two worlds which are the true sequels to Arthur and the invisibles.
Arthur and the great adventure is the English version of a so called sequel but it has 95 minuets of footage missing as th English version is on film made out of two.
I would therefore advise not purchasing the English title Arthur and the graet adventure but instead purchasing the international version of Arthur 2 the revenge of maltazard and Arthur 3 the war of the two worlds which are available in a double box set as pictured
