I am a little bit torn in my review of this book. I quite enjoyed the previous books I read by Alexandrea Weis but there was just something about this one that didn't click for me. The story line in itself was quite interesting but a big turn off for me was the existence of cheating. I quite liked Grady and Allison as characters but some of Allison's decisions were definitely against my moral code and that kind of killed the enjoyment of the story for me. But if you don't mind reading books like that, I can guarantee that you will love the book.

Grady is quite the pantie-melting hot character. Being a dancer requires of him to have a hart stopping body but in addition to that he is quite smart, somewhat dominant, protective and quite the treat between the sheets :) He definitely has moves both in and outside of the bedroom. After his not that perfect past, he is somewhat lost and doesn't believe that he deserves to be happy. A big part of that changes ones he meets Al and he finally finds his place in the world, the place he can call home.

Similarly to Grady, Al is lost in her everyday life and her past. Even though she regrets some of the decisions she's taken she doesn't know how to solve her problems. She is quite reserved in her dealings with men and that doesn't exactly change once she meets Grady. She becomes even tougher to crack exactly because she is attracted to him. I definitely don't agree with quite a few of Al's decisions in her life and I think that's primarily what made the book not that good for me. The other thing that put me off a little bit was that Al was older that Grady. I usually don't mind age difference (of course reasonable ones) but I prefer the man to be the older one. It's just the type of stories I prefer reading.

Set in atmospheric New Orleans, this is a unique read about a sexy male stripper and his alluring landlady.

Grady is an ex-banker due to the economic downturn, so for the past few years he has reverted back to his money earner as a stripper which he used to do part time when at University. His new career takes him all over the states and he finds himself with a four month booking in New Orleans. His agent fixes him up in rented accommodation in an old mansion but when his sees his landlady, Allison (or Al as she insists on being called) he is hooked on this aloof and beautiful woman.

The storyline then proceeds with Grady’s determination to win over Allison and push back all the barriers that are thrown in his path.

I found Grady to be instantly loveable from the start and liked that the story was mainly his POV. On the other hand I did find Allison a little hard to take to, maybe it’s because I couldn’t get inside her head like I was able to with Grady. I did like that they were both at the mature end of the age spectrum (thirties and early forties) and that Allison was ten years older than Grady (there is hope for us all to bag a sexy younger stripper then!)

There is a host of interesting secondary characters and a suspenseful backstory that added to this intriguing storyline. The romance was a slow build which was a refreshing change to the insta love that can be found in so many books nowadays. Overall a good solid four star read.

This is a new author to me and I have to say it was a fabulous introduction – The Art of Sin is exactly that artistically sinful!
It gave me a really gutsy feeling, one that had me hanging on every word. They just came to life in my hand sand I was swept along with their story. Grady used to work the markets – a Wall Street guy who has fallen foul of the economic situation as have many others.
But this guys has no intension of letting his situation get him down, and while it may not be ideal he is determined to make a living, no matter what. So buoyed by the fact that he always was able to conjure up a revenue stream he picks himself up and finding that his looks are his golden ticket he goes back to what he used to do in college – stripping.
Desperate folk take desperate measures but Grady has this one down pat and he eventually ends up travelling around shaking his thing! Eventually he ends up in New Orleans and from there things begin to change.
I wasn’t sure about Allison, she was a bit of a handful, and sure of herself but there was no denying the pull that existed between her and Grady. But as they had a professional relationship she was trying desperately to keep him at arm’s length – WHY??? Is she demented! But Grady doesn’t take no for an answer and when he goes all out to get his woman – he pulled no punches, she got the full on Grady pursuit and it was smouldering!
The author was clever with the detail that she imparted in her story she had her characters nailed and the twists and turns of the plot gave me time to feel the connection not only between the two of them but the one they were building with me. They will cause your heart pain – and I say that out of frustration because at times I could have willingly throttle the pair of them, they will make you laugh and they will intrigue you but above it all you will be rooting for them.
A great book – will definitely be finding some more of this authors work to keep me entertained.

4,5 stars-- THE ART OF SIN is the latest contemporary, adult, erotic romance storyline by Alexandrea Weis. The story focuses on thirty two year old former financial advisor and male stripper Grady Paulson, and nurse anesthetist Allison Wagner-a woman ten years Grady’s senior but the woman who calls to Grady’s soul. Grady travels the country wherever the work takes him and his latest contract finds our hero in New Orleans where his agent has set him up at Allison Wagner’s rooming house. What ensues is an intense seduction of Allison Wagner by the new tenant in apartment C.

Alexandrea Weis pulls the reader in a breathtaking, emotional and provocative storyline where the New Orlean’s nightlife takes center stage. From strip clubs to plastic surgery, crooked cops and dirty nightclub owners New Orleans offers up the seedy side of the French Quarter where gangs rule the nights and regret rules the day. We follow along as Grady Paulson seduces the not only his landlord but the patrons at the Flesh Factory with his moves, his mind, and his heart.

THE ART OF SIN is a story of romance and love; intrigue and suspense; friendship and loss. There are moments of anguish and heartbreak followed by the realization that life is fleeting with no promise of tomorrow. Alexandrea Weis will pull you in and never let go.
