About the Author

Amanda Prowse likens her own life story to those she writes about in her books. After self-publishing her debut novel, Poppy Day, in 2011, she has gone on to author sixteen novels and six novellas. Her books have been translated into a dozen languages and she regularly tops bestseller charts all over the world.

Remaining true to her ethos, Amanda writes stories of ordinary women and their families who find their strength, courage and love tested in ways they never imagined. The most prolific female contemporary fiction writer in the UK, with a legion of loyal readers, she goes from strength to strength. Being crowned ‘queen of domestic drama’ by the Daily Mail was one of her finest moments.

Amanda is a regular contributor on TV and radio but her first love is and will always be writing.

Oh you have done it again Amanda. Such a wonderful book, it brought back memories for me. My first husband died when I was 39 , in sad circumstances which I won't mention here, and left me with 3 children I was lucky in that he didn't leave such a financial mess behind, but having to do it all was very daunting. We didn't have to leave our home either and I stayed at home for some years and finally went back to work. But thank you for this book, would you believe my two eldest were born in Bath so more memories for me there. I am 71 now and have a fabulous husband so life does move on. Keep writing, PLEASE .

Another fabulous read from Amanda Prowse. This book starts off sad which is a different route than normal for her and you think you might get away without tissues! Fear not, this book still had me blubbing like a baby. Again the wonderful thing about Amanda's books is you could have the starring roll (god forbid) and the unfortunate things that happen to her characters could easily happen to you! They make you think and question your own lifestyle. Hugely enjoyable book and Mrs Prowse is still not falling from the high branch on my favourite author tree (

She did it again !!! Another fantastic novel by Amanda Prowse.
I don't know how she does it... The Art of Hiding is an emotional ride from the start.. Characters that are so real, I found myself willing Nina to come good from the shocking situation she finds herself in. A true tale of how important family and friendship are and that is ok to ask for help when the chips are down. I cried and cried some more I laughed and cheered out loud.
I never feel like my review gives Amanda the praise her work deserves.
Read this book you will not be disappointed..

Another wonderful read from Amanda Prowse - possibly my favourite yet. The story is so moving and told with sensitivity and a real understanding of the issues that poor Nina, the main character, faces. The subliminal messages in the story, ie. you should never take anything for granted and you are stronger than you think really hit home. I ended up having to take long pauses while I was reading simply to ponder on these underlying messages. Now that I have finished the book, I will read it again because there is much to reflect on and learn from. She's one clever lady is Amanda! I really hope there may be a sequel.

This is the story of Nina, married to the very successful Finn McCarrick who runs his own construction company, and their sons Connor and Declan. The family have everything they could wish for until one day their world is turned upside down and life will never be the same again.

The Art of Hiding is an inspirational and heart wrenching story of how the actions and consequences of one person can alter the lives of a family overnight, and shows the courage and survival instincts of those left behind to rebuild their lives and emerge stronger than they ever were before.

I started this book less than 24 hours ago and rarely came up for air. At chapter one I read the words through tear filled eyes and ended the book in the same way, many tears were also shed throughout the story too.

Amanda Prowse has a knack of drawing you into the lives of the characters within her stories and holding you captive till the very last sentence, so you feel that you've actually lived through the experiences of the characters as if they were your own. This book did just that with me and I finished the book a blubbering wreck, emotionally and physically drained by what I'd just read.

I highly recommend this book, a very worthy 5 stars from me.

I love Amanda Prowse's books, they're always so quick and easy to get into-you're soon involved and hooked. This one is no different and I found it a great read.

Her books are based on everyday situations many of us go through. Fiction-yet so lifelike and believable, you’re able to totally immerse yourself in the story. Excellent dialogue keeps things moving along quickly so you soon whizz through it. These feelings and situations happen to lots of people-but Amanda Prowse is so skilled in putting it down on paper and keeping you glued to the book.

I was so moved by this. I read a big chunk of it one Sunday: There was a burst in our area and we didn’t have any water for hours so, as I couldn't get showered, I just sat in bed reading and reading-and didn't feel guilty at all! I was happy for any excuse not to have to put this book down!

Another excellent read which I can thoroughly recommend. I can’t wait for her next one now!

Once again, another 5 Star book by Amanda Prowse. This one really pulls at the heartstrings, I cried at the start, I cried at the end, and I loved every minute in between. At first, only in the first instances of the book, I wasn't sure what to make of Nina, she had it all and yet seemed very distant and cold. This didn't last long - as soon as the story unfolds, I warmed to her, and became so in awe of her strength of character and her love for her sons above all else. She is a formidable woman, who has been dealt one of the worst blows a wife and mother could ever deal with - the loss of her beloved husband. The devastations keep coming though, and her late husband is not all he seemed to be, leaving a question mark over his death and debt beyond belief. Despite having a sad start, this book evokes many emotions - Nina's sister Tiggy and her 2 sons are adorable and funny - the boys have lost their role model Father, but Nina deals with it with such bravery and protects these vulnerable kids from way more than any mother should ever have to. Amanda seems to capture the thoughts and feelings of a pre-teen and teenage boy wonderfully and I found myself relating to the mother/son bond that Nina naturally sometimes struggles with. Eventually, we get to see the true Nina, one that makes friends and can be strong and ambitious. Her strong-willed personality and defiance to be brought down by the events that have happened to her are what gets this family to a place where they are happy, in a loving place, reflecting on what the true meaning of happiness is. It certainly made me think, we are so caught up with "things" and other people's opinions of ourselves, and this story proves that sometimes all you need is the love of your family. A wonderful book, I am never disappointed by Amanda's novels, and I can guarantee you will enjoy this journey of love, loss and everything in between.
