Hi, I found this book to be very inspirational. The projects are well described and illustrated, and within the first week I had completed one of the projects, adding my own little twist to it. I have already had orders for a couple more. I would recommend this book to any intermediate woodturner.
Regards, Don

Good in parts. Provides some inspiration for fairly intricate turning and carving. If you share the author's penchant for musical boxes this is the one for you. Personally I find some of the designs not to my taste but you cannot take away the obvious skill that is involved. All projects are accompanied by fairly clear dimensional diagrams so you may, like me, be able to extract a few potential challenges.

I bought this for my partner - he has been woodturning for some time now and was looking to gt into something more detailed. I think this is just what he needs - however it is very advanced!

While I don't expect used books to be in perfect condition, I do expect them to be in reasonable condition. This book has several pages very badly torn. Very disappointedArt of Fine Woodturning, The: Projects and Inspiration for Every Turner

A lot of inspiration and a little bit of intimidation to see such fine works. The book is a good read if not so much a tutorial.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quit what I expected, not a lot of info 10 Jan. 2010
By COLORADO HERMIT - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
There isn't a whole lot of information on woodturning in this book. There's 33 different projects shown with only the vaguest suggestion of instructions. Most of them require extensive wood carving to complete them.(Like the ones on the cover) There's only 13 out of 33 that dont have a lot of extra carving needed. For some reason the author has a thing about using Mesquite for everything. Most of the projects shown are made from it and a lot of those are made from what he called scrap pieces. While I agree it is a pretty wood there are a lot of others to work with.

This would be a good book for somebody that is already a Master Woodturner. If you don't already know the trade very well and been doing it for years don't bother getting this book. But then if you have the years of experience to make the projects in here then you don't really need this book. Unless you have run out of ideas for projects and are looking for new challenges. Then this one is for you.

I've only been turning wood for a couple of years and I was a machinist for over 20 years. Then 10 years ago I had a bad injury to my lower back that put an end to my being a machinist. So for something to do I got a little Jet 1014VS lathe 2 years ago and started turning pens and other small items on it. There's only 3 or maybe 4 projects in here that I would even think about trying. I'm going to need a lot more experience and some training before I could attempt any of the others.
