A short but well thought-through introduction to book fair participatio, aimed at authors new to the book fair circuit. There's much more to this than sitting on your table and waiting for the books to sell, as Watkins rightfully point out. He gives an insightful reflection on the whole purpose of book fairs from the author's perspective and then lists a lot of excellent ideas how to get the most out of it.
I thought I knew all about book fairs, being a regular attendee, but I learned a lot from this.
A must read for authors and a useful check list of sorts for your next visit to a book fair.

'The Art of The Book Fair: An Indie Author's Guide to Selling at Book Fairs' by Graham Watkins is a concise learning-tool that will not only aid independent authors, but newly-established small presses to market and sell their books.

Mr Watkins' writing is humorous, and he is candid in explaining to the seller the errors he made when he first started out trying to sell his books at a local book fair. Mr Watkins, however, doesn't leave it here, instead he kindly goes on to share his learning experience & offer us tips to avoid the pitfalls he had to endure.

This is a very, very useful guide for anyone wishing to promote their writing. Tautly written, it provides much practical advice mixed with engaging anecdotes of the author’s experiences. Entertaining as well as helpful. His story about having to dress as ‘Dick Spot the magician’ when giving a talk to children had me laughing aloud. Highly recommended.
