As well as fur coats, the author loves fur handbags, and they crop up in just about every chapter, even for summer use. She advises young women to have a good selection of housecoats, robes, negligees and the like, so that her husband will always see her at her best, even over the breakfast table. There's advice for every occasion, and the author does realize that some women work, so she gives plenty of ideas for outfits that will go from office to evening wear.
All the clothes are very dated, but fot that very reason some of them have even come back into fashion - if you find any 1950's clothes in a vintage store they will probably cost a fortune. It is a book I would recommend if you are interested in fashions and customs from this time period, and I read it from cover to cover.
