I like the idea of this book, which seems just right for a giggle with over Christmas. However, it's let down a bit by poor presentation. There is a jumble of type-faces, double spacing and over-large cartoons, as if they are trying to fill out the hard-back book format. It's as if they've been a bit careless in transferring it from the blog.

Also, there's a list of dozens of contributors and an index! Really there is no need. A mini gift book or softback may have been better.

This does pick out some of the classic concerns of the middle class and made me laugh but I wouldn't say it is a complete guide. A good guide to what you should be worried about - even if you aren't yet aware of it. Certainly has put a few more things on my list!

It is rare that a book will have me laughing out loud, but this cetainly did that, and I found myself reading out parts of it to share with my beloved. Full of sharp social observations covering the behaviours, emarassments and reactions of the middle classes, it had quite a few moments of self recognition - the behaviour of the middle classes in motorway service stations, even those blessed with a Waitrose, had me laughing in toe-curled embarrasment and self recognition, as did the to knock or turn the handle of the closed loo door in someone else's house conundrum.

This is fun light reading and I read it over just a couple of days, including pauses for laughter - great fun
