Thinned down woodstain that can be used to shade model kits. There are 3 different colours of Quickshade, this one, black, is for use with figures that are predominantly blue, purple, grey or silver. For example, I recently used it on a squad of GW Genestealers painted in the original purple and blue colour scheme. You need to paint the base coat on a little brighter than normal, paint the teeth and claws and do any spot shading or drybrushing first. Then apply this stuff and it shades the whole thing. It takes 24 hours to cure and the finished coat is very hard and glossy. At first it looks terrible, but a thin coat of Vallejo matte varnish or Testors Dullcoat will get rid of the gloss and make the figures look a lot better.

You have to use this stuff outside as it makes a mess and it's very difficult to clean up. It will destroy your brushes, so use a bit of sponge or something disposable to apply it.

I've deducted a star because of the price - it's hilariously expensive for what it is. The tin is really small, measuring 7cm tall and 7cm wide. The price they're charging is a complete rip-off. It's just thinned woodstain, nothing else.

This is a great product to apply to you models after you have finished basic painting. I paint it on with a larger size brush so I get a good coverage and then allow to dry for 24 hours. The brush can be cleaned with white spirit and is then ready to use again. Once dry, the finish is glossy. I then usually glue figures to bases and finish basing before simply spraying with Army Painter matte spray varnish.

great product, saving time and effort to shade my models, I suggest buying the matte-clear spray as well, unless you want the glossy look.

personal note: when it says to shake the excess off your model, shake vigorously, unless you want bubbles or excessive buildup of it on the model
