Arko Barber's Shaving Cream stick is the king of the inexpensive soaps. To use this stuff properly, thoroughly wet your face and rub the stick with a bit of pressure on the stubble until you can see a layer forming (you shouldn't use the stick to build lather). Then, take a wet brush and build the lather on your face. There's no need for a mug. Just keep in mind that this stuff requires a bit of water to get going properly. It has the most slippery, effective lather is one that is wet almost to the point of being runny. Best move I have ever made with shaving and I do not suffer from ANY razor burn or spots round my neck that always happend with disposable cartridge shaving.
I am not a shaving fetishist and do not get a semi about different razor handles, creams, pre shave treatments, pure bristle brushes etc. I got into this way of shaving as I don't like wasting money so I bought all the cheapest bits I could that came in at under £20.
I am very happy with the cheapest items I have bought and feel no need to upgrade.
This shaving stick is great. Bought in March it has hardly gone down & I am sure it will last me to the end of the year at least.
*** Tips - For some reason I joined Badger & Blade - one of the DE shaving fetishist forums the other week and came across this, Arko shaving stick. I learnt that I was doing it all wrong so am sharing my tips.
I WAS wetting the shaving stick & brush and rubbing brush on the stick & creating a lather. This is WRONG.
What you have to do is ensure you have at least some growth - if you run your hand up your face and can feel it that's enough. Wet your face and the shaving stick. Then rub the stick over your face - against the grain.
You probably won't see a lot and will think it isn't enough. It is!
Then get your wetted brush and start working it over your soaped face in circlular strokes and you will be amazed at the thick lather it creates. Once you are covered "lay it off" in smooth strokes and then you are all set for the best shave of your life!
Hope this helps. Cheers
I love the product for it's unique smell which brings back memories, authentic Turkish and vintage looking packaging and most of all the quality of this product.
It lathers up like no other and moisturises better than all other shaving creams or foams I have ever tried.
It's a must buy!

The soap worked great but the smell isn't for me. It's very, um, "soapy"? Like Ivory or Dove brand bar soaps. My other shaving soaps have not been like that.Published 2 months ago by Derek DeRaps
