HASH(0x8b46f420) out of 5 stars I have loved this book! - beautifully read by the author. 12 April 2015

I am on Disc 15 - out of 17 - of this superb book - and I am loving it! The writing is excellent - almost poetic. I love the story that Ari Shavit tells about Israel. And I love the author's reading of the text. He has a pleasant and clear Israeli "international" accent and reads beautifully, with feeling for the story he is telling. I love the way the book covers so many aspects of the Israel story - the good, the bad and the ugly. Mr. Shavit doesn't mince words, doesn't shy away from the more difficult aspects of Israel's history. Mostly he's simply very REAL. He highlights so much that is truly exciting and inspirational about the Israel story, starting with his great grandfather coming from England to Palestine in the 1890's and going through to the amazing technological "start-up" economy that flourishes to this day. He lays out a truly amazing story, beautifully told with many interesting and telling details. I have enjoyed every minute of listening to this audio book; I've looked forward, each day to my time listening to it as I take my daily walk along the back roads of my little Sullivan County (NY) hamlet. I could not recommend this book more highly. It paints a wonderfully vivid, full-spectrum picture of the people and history and spirit of modern day Israel. I hope many people enjoy it. And please know that the audio version is a delight to listen to - very, very well done. I actually will be sorry when I finish listening to the book.
