Having a power button was strange at first, since I already got used to the Pi turning on after plugging it. But it feels more like a normal computer now. After a quick setup, I can also double tap to reboot and hold to shutdown the device. Once shut down (via button or software), the case cuts the power. I found this quite convenient, as I used to unplug/replug my Pi for this. The setup script also enabled a fan, which mellows or strengthens according to the device's temperature!
These guys put a lot of thought into the Argon One case. I highly recommend this for people with a Raspberry Pi.
I like how the fan works with Retropie because I can play games on my pi for a long time without the pi overheating. I can even change the settings of my fan speed to cool the raspberry pi faster. On top of that, the case itself is also a heatsink, meaning that the the raspberry pi cools even faster since the heat is immediately transferred to the case. It’s easy to tell that they wanted to make sure that the pi could be used for long periods of time.
Another neat thing about this case is that it keeps all the ports on one side. It’s not a necessity by any means, but it’s definitely a nice quality of life improvement. I’ve been bringing my pi with the case on the road, and connecting and disconnecting cables has never been so much quicker and easier.
If you like to use your raspberry pi to play a huge collection of retro games, then this is the case that’s bang for the buck. You don’t have to worry about which cables to connect to, and you have two ways of keeping your raspberry pi cool.
