As a book on the buildings of Ancient Rome it is good. As a book on the architecture, not so much. There is not enough explanation of architecture here; like how did the Romans mix concrete for their sewers that was and still is, waterproof? How did they figure out the ideal type of archeways to makes their bridges strong?

There is no actual detail on the realities of architecture so the title is somewhat off. However as a book on Roman buildings it is very good. The book itself is a comfortable size but the print is a little small and whilst there are lots of colour pics throughout a lot of them are very small which is a shame when displaying the beauty of Rome.

For the price on here though (£5.75) I really can't fault it. An absolute bargain. Can't see how the cost of printing would leave any profit!

I had a paperback version of this book and it was bigger. Therefore the print was bigger than the hardback. Other than that I think it is a good book. It was given as a present and I am sure the receipient is happy with it.
