HASH(0x9c187468) out of 5 stars Another one of the same old same old ALMOST 4 Jun. 2013

Unfortunately this seems more to me a book of one school of thought led by Lewis-Williams.....opinions seem to run a bit high for me, and analysis type opinions I don't really need this type of info in my research. What I do need are not flat images on paper when one is discussing rock art, petroglyphs etc....when we simply get a "sketch" of these forms out of context (away from the cave or exteriors) where they are found, it's like reading a palm with the rest of the body missing. I was very disappointed therefore to find these little sketches throughout ....out of context where I could actually get a sense of them myself without someone elses interpretation.
I will say when I had completely given up hope on this book...I found a piece on "The Sounds of Transformation: Acoustics, monuments and ritual in the British Neolithic" that saved the book for me and made it well worth the purchase.

Well written introduction to the subject. Would prefer to have had something more in depth - it just whetted my curiosity for the subject.
