First up: This is a pretty short story and shouldn't take too long to read. A previous reviewer has taken issue with this and completely unfairly given the book 1 star even though he enjoyed the read. Go figure.

Mr Beck delivers another frenetic adrenaline fuelled introduction to the awesome Arcadian.

Sit back, switch off and enjoy the ride.

This is a short introduction into the Arcadian series and is perfect for someone new to the series looking for something to read. On display is Beck's wonderful writing style full of action and intrigue but it also doesn't give anything away either. Great read.

Four GRIPPING Stars! "Arcadian Genesis" by author Grieg Beck is a fast-paced novella full of mystery, science fiction, and military action/adventure. It touches on events of pre-history and modern times, giving the general background of Alex Hunter and the "Hotzone All-Forces Warfare Commandos (HAWCs)" in a prequel to the novel Beneath the Dark Ice (Alex Hunter) and what Alex became afterwards in follow-on novels/novellas. As the novella unfolds, the HAWCs are already in existence, under the supervision of Major Hammerson, and the seven person team is under the command of Bronson on the mission called "Valkeryn". The essential mission centers on an object that has been found deep underground, buried for eons in Russia, that could ostensibly effect the entire world. Author Beck ramps up the tension effectively as the true nature of the object is revealed and the HAWCs are covertly sent into Russia to get the object. But others, who are more aware of the capabilities are also looking for this object. Full of gory scenes, intense battles, and stealthy tactics, the HAWCs reach their ultimate objective in a situation that opens the door for the Arcadian Project. This is a potent novella that relentlessly builds with suspense and action, and ultimately has a plot 'set piece' showdown that puts HAWC capabilities to the test, amid their vaunted electronics and armor. Even so, it is an attractive introduction to Alex Hunter, sets up "Beneath The Dark Ice", and opens the door for readers, like me, who are new to the Alex Hunter series. Very Definitely Recommended. Four STEALTHY Stars! (80 pages: reviewed in Kindle Text-to-Speech (TTS) format, 2-3 hours listening time. Contains 8 pages of the Hunter novel Black Mountain.)

Greig Beck's Prequel, Arcadian Genesis takes his readers on a short journey back to the Chechen countryside, from his first book, Beneath the Dark Ice. Captain Alex Hunter, the hero of the series and commander of a group of elite soldiers, endure extreme temperatures and conditions. During their mission they are faced with terror from the deep, scientists on the run with something that could change the world, not to mention awakening creatures you would only encounter in nightmares. I thoroughly enjoyed Arcadian Genesis. Looking forward to more adventures from Alex Hunter.

I bought this thinking it was a full story...But what i got was a good read till it finished abruptly leaving me feeling ripped off for what i paid.
I would not have bought it had i known that it was a tiny story.
What a frustrating buy left out on a limb wanting more but given less for my money.
Dont bother buy a proper book.

Greg Bweck turns out these novels and has a good writing style for adventurers. Not always that believable but engaging and full of action.
