EDIT 4/8/2014 My last box of the spaghetti cooked and went to mush after about 6-7 mins. On close inspection to the raw spaghetti before cooking, each strand seemed to have a very light marking ever cm or 2 all the way along as if already cooked in those places. Never seen spaghetti like it before. Possibly a dud batch but edible. Be careful how long you cook it and look for the discoloured spots
Avoid if you like your spaghetti to taste like spaghetti. Noodle would be a more apt description of this product.
I really don't know how I ended up buying this product as I love spaghetti, to which this product bears no resemblance whatsoever.
Once boiled (for 10 mins) it tasted like cassava, except this had no taste at all. It is also physically too thin to be called spaghetti. If you don't want a starchy, glutenous mess, make sure the cooking time is far less than instructed. If cooked even slightly beyond al dente one has to fight it to remove it from a fork. Taken as a basic carbohydrate I can't rate it, as it is not spaghetti, despite what is stated in the product description and on the packet.
I received a refund from Amazon. So, I will donate the 23 remaining packets to a local food-bank as it does have some (limited) nutritional value.
