Anyway, it starts with Ko, a young man who has been brought up never to be indebted to anybody (ever!) losing his trousers on the bridge, as you do and in trying to retrieve them, falls into the river and nearly drowns. Nino, a self proclaimed inhabitant of Venus dives in and saves him and determined to clear his debt, ends up agreeing to be her 'lover'. Nope, she's not entirely sure what she means either but it does start him a new life living under the bridge among this array of oddball characters that make up this rather endearing cast.
In fact, the characters probably explains the tone of this show more than anything else. The least weird appears to be the resident chief/'Yokai' who spends much of his time in river dressed up in an (obvious) green costume and who holds the community together and P-Ko the lethally clumsy gardener. Just some of the others include 'Sister', a hardened war (male) veteran wearing a nun's habit who performs mass with a machine gun and cookies, Maria the former secret agent, now farmer who will sweetly insult/bum out anybody she meets, the former executive who can only get around with the aid of road line marking machine (his wife will turn into a Cornish Hen otherwise) and Stella, the little British girl with Mafia Don aspirations.
It probably depends on your sense of humour but I thought this to be incredibly funny, interesting, heart warming and totally off the wall nuts!!!
