Generic applications which make no reference to the job description or person specification; which refer to 'your school' rather than the school's name; which contain grammatical, punctuation or spelling errors; which tell me nothing about the candidate's reasons for applying; which focus on what the school can offer the applicant rather than what they can offer the school or which show that the applicant is clearly unsuited to the job are all discarded on the first pass. As the author Theo Griff so rightly states, "An application is about one specific person applying for one specific post in one specific school. There is no One-Size-Fits-All."
Now applicants for teaching posts have a clear guide in simple steps and with sound underlying principles on how to make their applications work effectively for them. And not only teaching posts, but also for positions of responsibility and senior leadership posts with an added bonus of sound guidance of how to dig yourself out of the redundancy pit.
Theo Griff's book is a 'must read' for anyone in the teaching profession who wishes to avail themselves of sound and well-researched advice written by an author who has significant experience in processing applications for teaching posts and in selecting those successful in moving on to the interview stage.
Theo Griff clearly knows what they are talking about and has in depth knowledge of how the teaching application process works. There are lots of really helpful tips which enables the individual to present themselves in the best possible way. I absolutely love the way the book takes you through the application process stage by stage.
I would thouroughly recommend this book to everyone in the teaching profession no matter at what stage you are in your career. Whether you're an NQT looking for your first job, moving on, moving up to SLT, thinking of become a deputy or head teacher, this book has something in it for everyone. In fact at £2.99, I would recommend that every teacher should be in possession of this excellent book. I have already recommend it to some of my colleagues, who also love it.
I am looking forward to reading the next book!
This is an excellent guide for teachers looking for another post from new teachers to senior teaching posts.
I would highly recommend this book!
A small investment (nothing if you're already a Prime subscriber) that could reap dividends when you're appointed to your chosen post.
