Having used an Apple watch daily for a month, I thought I'd share my thoughts. There's a lot to cover, and it's broken into sections so you can skip the bits you're less interested in. If you're busy and just want the facts, I've included a summary at the start, and a list of Frequently Asked Questions and the end.

Apple Watch - A Summary
Smaller and lighter than I'd expected and beautifully designed it's effectively an extension (indeed dependent upon), the iPhone. But the most Frequently Asked Question is why buy one? What's the point?

What can you do with it?

* Tell the time. It's incredibly accurate, automatically changes for daylight saving time, and when travelling, detects your location and automatically changes to the local time zone.
* Receive a "notification" tap on the wrist (and a quiet ping) when you receive an eMail, text or notification on your phone. Never miss another urgent text or mail.
* Monitor your heart rate with the data recorded on the iPhone "Health" app along with calories and distance.
* Send a text, voice message or even make a phone call (yes you read that correctly!)
* Send your heartbeat, send a tap on the wrist, an on screen drawing or an animated emoji to another Watch user in real time. (Silly but potentially fun).
* Measure your daily activity including how often you stand, distance walked/run, and the number of calories you've burned.
* Receive a daily and weekly updates on your progress towards fitness goals.
* Customise the watch face using an analogue/digital clock face, animated pictures or even Micky Mouse.

There's so much to say about this watch but I'll keep it as brief as possible and try not to turn this in to a long drawn out review.

First off, the boxing. Apple have once again made the packaging absolutely beautiful. It's very minimalistic but looks so cool. It's very secure and sturdy and would probably take a few knocks without even damaging the contents.

Inside, the watch comes in its own plastic case whilst underneath you have the plug along with the charging cable. The plug is an amazing design, it's one of those fold up plugs which makes it much better for travelling etc. The actual charging cable has a circular piece at the end which magnetically sticks to the back of the watch allowing it to charge. A brilliant bit of design again by Apple. This makes it very simple to leave on your bedside table and just pop it on as you go to sleep.

The watch itself if amazing. You get an extra strap so you can chose between 2 different sizes. I put the shorter strap on as I felt it was a nicer fit. These straps simply slide in from the side of the watch, you just push the button to slide them in or out.

Moving on to the set up. This is all straight forward process, just follow all the on screen instructions and you'll be fine. Plug it in, turn it on and start you calibration!

Once you've picked your orientation, you can pick left or right handed, syncing it to your iPhone is a doddle. I have an iPhone 6 and found it very easy to sync up. As I said before, all the instructions will be on screen and will walk you through everything you need to do.

Once set up, it's time to adjust the settings to your liking and pick your favourite clock face ;) This is now even better since the 2.0 update.

The positives: Looks good. Comfortable to wear. Battery lasts for at least a day and sometimes for two. Watch faces look good. Fits nicely under your sleeve.

Why you shouldn't buy one: Everything is slow. 90% of tasks can be accomplished, in half the time, by taking your phone out of your pocket instead. About 25% of the time voice commands will cause the watch to pause for 30 secs then announce "No Siri connection", even if your phone is on fast WiFi. Walking directions in all situations are highly frustrating, with directions intermittently buzzing up at the wrong time, or on the phone instead of the watch. Third party apps like Runmeter cause the watch to crash if you flick between screens too quickly. Finding your GPS location on the map takes so long the watch face usually goes to sleep before it can load. Calls taken on the watch quite frequently drop before they connect. Text messages go missing: sometimes they appear on the watch, sometimes they don't and buzz on your phone instead. When Siri is working, it is slow and prone to mistakes. When wearing the watch and working on a MacBook the watch handoff icon keeps popping up on the MacBook's screen, even when you're not using the watch. Updating Watch OS is an unstable process lacking Apple's usual polish, and I had to reboot phone and Watch several times to get the watch to update. The weather app quite frequently has a fit where the screen cycles rapidly between a few cities then says weather is not available right now. Other times it will tell you weather for a city you were in 24hrs ago. The built-in running app is inaccurate and even when connected to the phone's GPS is out by +/-15% on run distance.
