'Alison Murray's Apple Pie ABC coaxes an old text into brilliant new life, with each page showing the same puppy slavering over a delicious-looking pie before finally giving way to temptation. Rarely can the alphabet have been presented in a more child-friendly way.' (Independent on Sunday)
The bold, retro artwork is colourful and attractive and the story is full of humour (The Best New Children's Books 2015)
''This delightful board book presents the alphabet in the form of a story in which a mischievous puppy attempts to get his paws on an apple pie... As well as an entertaining tale, it is an inventive way to help familiarise children with the alphabet.' (Nursery Education)
An utterly delicious introduction to the alphabet from the cutest little pup you're likely to find!See all Product description

The traditional verse was new to me and I liked it. The idea of a little girl and her dog negotiating the enjoyment of a freshly baked apple pie is fun; Georgie and Grace are sweet, but not necessarily `utterly adorable'.
Emphasising the first letter of each little sentence will help to identify it. The letters are written in capitals, which are less familiar than lower case to new readers. Some of the words will stretch the vocabulary of a little child, how many people use `ogle' or even `pine' in every day chat? So I didn't find it perfect, just another pleasant book to share with my grandchildren.
I think we will read this a lot, as the story is quite good and hopefully it will help my son to learn his letters more. I would recommend it for parents looking for different books to get their children more familiar with the alphabet, as it seems to hold their attention more than the standard "A Apple B Ball" type thing. Overall an enjoyable and quite quirky book.
Presently we are able to distinguish a few words and this book is becoming a regular fixture in our reading sessions - even to the point where my little boy is requesting it (he calls it 'find the letters' which is good enough for me.) A great little addition to any toddler's library.
My little Nephew loved the pictures and the little rhyme, and now equates his ABC's with the dog....and apple pie!
All children will love this little book, it's a nice size, there aren't too many pages, nor is it overly cumbersome and heavy.
A really light-hearted book that will encourage any child that is struggling a little with their ABC's to make learning fun.
Can't rate this book highly enough, Allison Murray, you are a genius!
The illustrations are great and have a very traditional look which seems to be lacking from many children's books nowadays.
The book is a lovely big size which is nice for little children. The pages are a little thin however so may get ripped by excited children!
All in all a good educational children's story.
