Interacting with MacBook Pro is a smooth experience all round. The keyboard features our second-generation butterfly mechanism - providing four times more key stability than a traditional scissor mechanism, along with greater comfort and responsiveness. And the spacious Force Touch trackpad gives your fingers plenty of room to gesture and click. Thunderbolt3 combines ultra-high bandwidth with the ultra-versatility of the USB-C industry standard to create one revved-up universal port. It integrates data tran

Although this has the smallest hard drive capacity of the MacBook Pro range it's really not a problem for myself despite using it for graphic and web design purposes.
Due to the reduction in size and weight of the laptop there are now only two ports on the left handside of the computer with a headphone jack on the right. This means that for anyone needing to plug in anything other than a charger (eg. USB, memory cards, external disk driver etc.) You'll need to purchase a separate USB hub.
Despite the description stating this is the UK version, the laptop we received has the US keyboard layout.
The battery is proving impressive so far, and came with a decent charge so didn't need to plug it in before getting on with setting it up.
The laptop was sent well packaged however we did have some issues with delivery. After the item didn't arrive by the suggested date and contacting the seller we were told it would arrive four days later, which leads me to believe the item wasn't despatched when we were told it was.
The seller did however respond quickly to our queries, despite amazon email notifications suggesting that the message hadn't got through.
We asked for a tracking number but the seller was unable to provide this, which for a product of this value is something I think is definitely necessary for buyers piece of mind.
Overall I'm happy with the product, despite a few hiccups along the way.
I was one of those and was considering staying with a MacBook Pro 2015 but then questioned my reasoning behind it.
Skipping the 2016 model gives you the benefit of a slightly longer travel keyboard on the 2017 model, which means it is better to type on and for me, it is less clickey and tappy sounding. The 2017 keyboard is more satisfying to use if you use the keyboard a lot. This is the main physical difference between the 2017 and 2016 is the upgraded keyboard due to complaints with the old one.
The sound from the speakers on this is a massive leap ahead of the old shape 2015 models, and sound quite pleasant, clear and very detailed - very acceptable - probably one of the best for a 13 inch laptop.
The performance on paper is light years ahead of my MacBook Pro 2012, but in real world, is not significantly faster. The built in SSD is blazing fast though, and opening apps and saving large files is much quicker than on my 2012 model. But as an entry level model, I think it deserves 5 stars. The touchbar models drive up the price and offer poor value.
The lack of ports issue can be addressed with one universal hub that plugs into the USB-C port and offers standard USB 3 sockets, HDMI, memory card slots, additional USB-C slots and are available from Amazon. The official Apple dongles offer less functionality so you need a handful of different dongles to serve the same purpose as one compact hub.
If I could level any real criticism, I do miss the old style power charging cable though, which is magnetic and breaks away if someone trips over the cord. I also miss the wings on the power adaptor itself which allows you to wind the cord tidily. This has no wings, and also has no LED to indicate it is charging. Just a beep when you plug in to an active power source, very much like an iPhone.
There is a small watch out with the small SSD. It is fine if you use it mainly for web browsing and accessing documents in the cloud, but you may find it more restrictive if you do video editing or animation. So stay away if you are planning to do these, unless you intend to buy an external USB-C SSD. But at any rate you may find 8GB of RAM limiting, particularly for animation. Additionally if you use lots of large apps, this may consume the space leaving you little in terms of onboard storage.
This costs the same as the non Pro MacBook but offers far superior performance and two USB-C ports instead of a very solitary 1
So for basic use, this is a fine performance machine, very sleek, slim, and lightweight compared to the old 2015 shape. Just be mindful of the storage space and be rigorous with your declutter routine (or buy the 256GB version).
