About the Author
Brigitte Novalis comes from Germany, but now lives with her family near Boston, Massachusetts. She works as an intuitive healer, therapist and Reiki Master. She is also a motivational author and has written books, in both English and German, on helping people with things like connecting with nature and meditating, getting what you want from life and finding love. But for her entire life, Brigitte has also been a fan of fairy-tales. Since her early childhood she marveled at the tales of dragons, princes and princesses living in faraway lands and castles. Now, as she puts it, ‘joyfully and freely, as birds fly, the fairy-tales come into my mind, and I write them down for you.’ Brigitte now devotes a part of her time dreaming up adventures and writing fairy-tales complete with colorful characters and beautiful illustrations, which captivate adults and children alike. Who would have thought that one can have an apple as a loyal and wise friend?
I have enjoyed reading this story of the young man and the apple
surviving adventures and staying good friends.
I love this story so much! It is profound and beautifully told and illustrated."
Instead, this is a fairy tale, and a beautiful one, about a young man who finds a mentor and friend, leaves his home, tricks his enemy, rescues his love, has to ask for a sacrifice, and after grief, danger and distress, finds a new hope in the end.
This fairy tale is an excellent way to take your children on a hero's journey. And it stresses the importance and meaning of friendship, not by preaching it, just by telling a good story about it.
All of Brigitte Novalis' fairy tales are beautifully illustrated, and "Apple, my Friend" is no exception. The castle, where the glass princess is found, the meadows and gardens of the kingdom, all this is depicted in quaint, enchanting and inspiring pictures.
I highly recommend this book to everyone, children and adults, who loves to read a good fairy tale and wants to spend some time in a magic realm, far away from here...
