Product description

Amazon.co.uk

It's hard to take Apocalypse Dudes seriously, so it's best not to. Turbonegro's greatest album is a mix of all the best excesses of 70s and 80s hard rock and metal, with influences taking in Motley Crue, Judas Priest and Alice Cooper, all delivered with a punk-rock attitude. The result out-Spinal-Taps Spinal Tap, from the fake prog intro to "The Age of Pamparius" (which takes a swipe at Rush before launching into pomp-rock excess) to the call-to-arms anthem "Rock Against Ass". And while song titles such as "Don't Say Motherfucker, Motherfucker", "Rendezvous with Anus" and "Good Head" virtually guarantee little radio airplay, they have enough catchy hooks to appeal to fans of fellow Scandinavian rockers (and new label-mates) the Hives, with lowbrow, so-dumb-they're-clever lyrics that should win over fans of the Farrelly Brothers. --Robert Burrow
