4.0 out of 5 stars underrated 13 July 2000

anything worth doing....... is the latest cd from a very underrated band. I have been a fan of Pretty maids since i saw the video for "future world". Every cd i bought from them has been great and the new one is no exception. it starts of blazing with "snakes in eden" a song with a heavy guitar riff and great vocals. What makes me a big fan of Pretty Maids that they can write heavy songs with great harmonies and melodies. On anything worth doing.... the song "when the angels cry", which i think is one of their better songs every written, mixes heavy guitar with great melodies and harmonies. This whole cd is awesome not one bad song on it. If i had to compare them to another band, maybe heavier version of Europe. This band is really good and needs to be recognized for their talent. buy this cd! also check their older material, "red, hot and heavy, future world and jump the gun." go to their website to learn more about this very underrated band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny 4 Sept. 2009

I love Scorpions, Old Dokken, WASP, Some Warrant, Great White, bands like that. I can listen to 95 out if a 100 Pretty Maids songs and think that was great stuff. The Guitar will blow you away and the lyrics actually were well done and have a lot of thought and meaning. I lost track of these guy after Future World. In 2004 I found my tape from years ago and thought these guy kicked ass. I finally could afford some music so I looked these guys up on amazon. I now own almost every album (I have never really liked live albums.) I listen to these guy or scorpions almost every day.
4.0 out of 5 stars Another impressive Pretty Maids album 26 Feb. 2011
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com

1999's Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing is the eighth (I believe) studio album from Danish melodic metal band Pretty Maids. Pretty Maids is one of the most consistent bands in metal, releasing high quality melodic metal albums since the early `80s without major lineup issues or attempts to incorporate the latest musical fads.

Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing is another high quality Pretty Maids release. The band held strong to their core sound throughout the `90s, and that sound is in place here. They strike the right balance between heaviness and melody, know how to put together strong songs, and of course there's the one-two punch of Ken Hammer's impressive guitar work and Ronnie Atkins' powerful (but never over the top) vocals. There are a couple of slower songs, but for the most part, this is a hard rocking album with a lot of metal punch. My favorite songs on this one are "Snakes in Eden" and "Only in America," but the whole album is really good.

If you're a Pretty Maids fan, you're going to want this album (if you're new to the band, start with Future World). It's as strong as anything the band released in the `90s, and honestly there's just no such thing as a bad Pretty Maids album!
