Product description

From the Inside Flap

Peter Mayle sets his latest irresistible tale in the thyme- and lavender-scented south of France. Bennett, a suave if slightly threadbare English ex-patriot who is fast approaching the end of his credit, advertises his "services" in The International Herald Tribune. In no time, he is being paid handsomely to impersonate the mysterious and very wealthy Julian Poe.
"A lark that's perfect for summer reading." --Baltimore Sun. -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

About the Author

Peter Mayle spent fifteen years in the advertising business, first as a copywriter and then as a reluctant executive, before escaping Madison Avenue in 1975 to write educational books for children. In 1990, Mr. Mayle published A Year in Provence, which became an international bestseller. He is also the author of Toujours Provence, Hotel Pastis, A Dog's Life, Encore Provence and Chasing Cezanne. In addition to writing books which have been translated into more than twenty languages, Mayle has contributed to the Sunday Times, Financial Times, Independent, GQ and Esquire. He and his wife and two dogs live in the South of France. -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

I've only recently returned to Peter Mayle, having read 'A Year in Provence' many years ago, but only after the t.v. series was made, which I didn't see at the time. I have a copy of the book from the series, with photos, which may not be helpful for the imagination. However, browsing a charity shop recently I came across a clean copy of 'A Vintage Affair' and I loved it. So I have since read three other Mayle stories.

'Anything Considered' is great fun, never too threatening but threatening enough and written in a liquid style. Try it!

As a lover of the Peter Mayle books I was very disappointed with this one. It started well, gathered pace and interest, then lost it's way into a faintly ridiculous story with a very poor ending. Please Mr Mayle, no more of these.

As a Mayle fan really enjoyed the mystery and humour and of course the stunning description of the French countryside and culture

Another most enjoyable book from Peter Mayle, laugh-out-loud funny & a good story. As always the main characters and plot are well described but not over-drawn, leaving plenty to the imagination to keep you interested right to the last page. Another one I'll read again & again. Recommended.

Brilliant Upbeat story that was a pleasure to read. I wonder if they'll ever turn this one in to a film, there is certainly scope? Highly recommended!

Captivating book and very funny. The only thing is that the book is nit yours for ever. You actually seem to have it for few hours and the time goes down ftom 16 hours to 7 hours in just few minutes. Next time I will buy the hard copy instead of the kindle version...

The book began well and I thought I was in for a treat, but after becoming involved in a James Bond-ish encounter with drug companies and hair-raising escapes the tension waned and I began skipping.
