Sadly this interesting light folk rock style pop group have been forgotten about by the mainstream of pop music. They have had no albums issued on CD that are easily available meaning that the only way to get any of their music is either on original vinyl or this very welcome MP3 compilation. (I am talking about the original British group the Settlers and not the other group with CD releases)
I wish there were CDs of music by the Settlers but unfortunately this is not so. I believe it is a shame that this group has been neglected and forgotten about and I am keen to see anything that improves the situation. I have written reviews about some of the original vinyl albums and hope that record companies wake up and realise there are people interested in this group.
I have never been a fan of MP3 and prefer CD but this MP3 release is such a good encouraging step in the right direction and I am glad that there is MP3 rather than nothing at all. All those responsible for this issue deserve a medal.
The compilation could easily have been longer. But it is at least a start. There are other tracks that I think should be on a compilation and are not here. A bit of a missed opportunity but maybe there could be another collection?
I would happily welcome complete albums on MP3 if there are to be no CDs. So the fact that there are some tracks, even if there are only 13, is like finding gold.
At least the tracks are going to be more easily available to the public and the sound is actually good compared to the scratchy vinyl originals.

All of the tracks on this compilation are from recordings made in the 1970s. But before looking at those tracks here is a brief pre history of the band.

The very smooth sound of the Settlers. I had only heard the music from the group's album 'The Lightning Tree' before, so the additional tracks were a bonus.
