One point -- when braking a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission, especially in a high-performance situation, never step on the clutch unless you're shifting gears or coming to a full stop. With the throttle closed, the engine produces negligible power, but still functions as an air compressor. As long as it remains connected to the drive line, it acts as a brake. In engineering terms, the thermal and kinetic energy imparted to the intake air is derived from the kinetic energy of the vehicle. Step on the clutch too soon, and you lose about thirty percent of your braking ability. How do I know? I drove truck for over forty years.
One last comment -- if this series is anything close to accurate, Great Britain today is more of a police state than the Soviet Union was at its worst. Shows what happens when people think safety is more important than liberty.
