Product description

About the Author

K. D. McAdams writes stories about young people who make choices with their heart and not their head. ‘Don’t talk to strangers’ is the most common phrase in our house, I have failed several art classes and I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast. I have a son that loves to talk to strangers, my daughter is an incredible artist and I have another son that is a stickler for details with a near eidetic memory. We nurture our kids everyday with advice and information but deep down they all have an element of nature that overrides our nurturing and influences their choices. Kids who have the courage to follow their instinct and make their own choices are the ones who make life memorable.

Really enjoyed this story,i was getting really bored off all end of world stories being about zombies. So enjoyed the lack of gore, with focus being more on an unusual misfits life changes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Has it All. Great Characters, Excitement, Suspense. It Glued Me to the Page 27 Jun. 2015

K. D. McAdams writes riveting stories about average people in horrendous situations. Even without zombies, Annihilation does not disappoint. It's peopled by a teenaged genius, two teenage girls, an orphaned toddler, and a befuddled but stepping-up-to-the-plate Dad. There's a love interest. too. For our genius, not for Dad (he's still married to Mom). A deadly virus has killed off most of the population, but last they knew Mom was still alive and waiting for them in San Francisco. Thus the bizarre cross-country road trip where they encounter auto breakdowns and human monsters and, through sheer genius, survive the mother of all fires. What waits for them in San Francisco at first seems like blissful safety but . . . Something rotten is buried beneath the veneer of these polite scientists. To find out what, I must return for the next book, and I have to because the story is on a roll. I highly recommend Annihilation even to those who aren't fans of apocalyptic fiction.

Excellent series of books by K.D. MaCadamia. It's supposed to be YA, but I'm 61 and loved them. Can't wait for #4!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good read..great for young adults 25 July 2014

My only complaint is that my downloaded copy had three chapters totally blank. All it had was white lines where text should have been. Not sure why that would be but it was, so i missed quite a bit of the story. Still, i give it four stars.

Unlikeable main character, lots of un-fact based theory to swallow down whole, nothing really driving this story except dark matter.

A good young adult book that gives a different spin on the post apocalyptic scenario. It glosses over some of the reality, but does give a few scenarios of what it might be like. There quest to get to where the Mom is and what happens next is a good beginning for this series. Will read the next book in the series.
