About the Author

Sara Thomson was born in the north east of England in 1978 and grew up with divorced parents, and subsequently a step family. She has written all her life and the first book she ever penned was a picture book for her 2 year old little sister when she was 7. She painstakingly drew tiny pictures of little hedgehogs and animals, stuck the whole thing together with sellotape and presented this work to a delighted little girl. It was around this time, she realised that she couldn't draw, this talent had passed to this same sister who had received the little story book with such joy. Growing up she always had a secret desire to write books, but hid this away because she knew it was one of those dreams where people say things like; "Yes, but what real job are you going to do?" However, after getting married young and having four children over the next 15 year period, Sara realised that life is far too short to listen to that inner demon that tells you not to follow your dreams, and began writing Anna's Home Front following a three year stint at University studying a BA Hons in English with Creative Writing. Now, finally she is following her dreams and has plans to write many more books including the follow-up to Anna's Home Front titled, The Prisoner. The main character, Anna Forrester, is a likeable, independent sort who tries to do everything herself. Being the only child of a single mother she has never had to rely on a man and therefore is determined to succeed in the male-dominated world of journalism, which was virtually unheard of during the 1940s. Anna is recalled from Fleet Street, London in the middle of the Blitz, to Yorkshire, to be at her dying mother's bedside. Anna is given a strange, old diary by her mother which sets her on an investigation into one of Yorkshire's most prominent families, the Leyacs. A 25 year old mystery about the death of an heiress and the disappearance of a child is reopened, and Anna has to follow the clues before she finally finds the shocking and most unexpected answer. A good read with lots of interesting events and clues. A very good debut novel from a new North East Writer.

Finished this book two days ago and yet cant stop thinking about Anna's story! I have never read a historic book before and this is completely different to the type of books i usually read but saying that its been a page turner right from the very first chapter and once you get further into Anna's story you cant stop reading. Its an amazing story and would recommend to anyone. I love the personal touch as it follows two peoples individual lives throughout. The detail makes you believe it can almost be real! The secrets and suspence is unreal keeping you guessing and the ending is shocking, cant wait for the next book. Keep up the great work.

I was lucky enough to meet Sara at a book signing and thought the story sounded intriguing, so bought a copy. I am so glad I did. Every chapter has its twists and turns, and you can't wait to see what is in the next chapter. What is more surprising for me is that I was a 'non reader' of novels but I couldn't put this book down. It has inspired me to buy more books and enjoy the love of reading. Can't wait for the next in the series. Thanks Sara for inspiring me. Sharon😃

What a absolutely gripping story set during the war. I heard about this book from someone who didn't read much but couldn't put it down. Sara lives quite close to me and I must say it's a privilege to have read such a good book and actually know who wrote it. The story has so many twists and turns as she's searching for the truth keeping you wanting to read on. I believe she is doing a sequel so can't wait.
