You have been warned.
This is the second hub I have used although the first was externally powered, being host powered does reduce the battery life of my laptop by about 25 mins from a regular 2 hours 30 mins when 3 additional devices are connected via the hub (phone transferring files, keyboard and mouse). Just don't leave it plugged on while booting if your computer booting order starts with USB drives first as it will take longer to start up. Windows seems to think it has found new hardware each time I plug it into a different port.
*Have tested while it was plugged into a USB 2.0 port copying files across from my phone to an external hard drive and averaged a speed of about 18mb/s which is pretty close to when there is no hub involved (20.5mb/s)
Well packaged, really good USB 3.0 transfer speeds, USB 2.0 backwards transfer speeds also really good. Under normal operation the hub stays cool and with heavy usage only warms up slightly. Ports well spaced out, so connecting usb devices like pen drives which are notoriously fat and compete for room like on my other hub is no problem. No problems thus far with any devices I plug in.
Didn't particularly like the glossy finish, matte probably would have been better. The cord is a little short (I realise thats probably to avoid power losses) and not really flexible (this limits the usb ports it can be plugged into at least in my setup as one side of my laptop leans over the side of my desk, which could potentially be a problem if a user only has a pc with one usb 3.0 port). Grips, i.e. rubber feet on the underside would have been nice.Read more ›
I've seen this in other reviews here too, so this is not just a one off complaint.
AND... it's just done it again as I was typing this. So basically the vibrations of me typing has knocked the damn thing offline again.
Pretty poor show really. Buying a better one instead.
All in all I am very happy with this device. I have yet to test USB 3 as I bought it to extend the ports on my ultrabook and have a long future. I do not yet have USB 3 accessories to prove speeds.

It is okay, but not really delivering the USB3 speed I expected.Published 8 months ago by Amazon Customer
This works well - I have three external drives plugged into it - although my external reader needs plugging in directly to my Mac. But, I hardly ever just that anyway. Read morePublished 14 months ago by cherv
