Product Description

Product Description

Made with the same original secret recipe since 1824 the world famous Angostura aromatic bitters remains the quintessential and definitive ingredient for classic and contemporary cocktails. Its versatility, however, stretches way beyond the bar counter as it serves as a unique flavour enhancer with the ability to marry flavours in the preparation of all food dishes. Angostura aromatic bitters also adds its unmistakable flavour and aroma to 'soft' beverages and desserts.

Well, Bitters are bitters - make a lovely drink with Tonic Water, and these are them. They are getting harder to find, even big supermarkets don't seem to stock them - maybe 'cos a bottle will last a very long time.

Excellent price, the packaging was amazing, more bubble warp than you can wave a stick at.
The bottle was safe alright. so, very happy.

I bought this so that I could mix my own "Old Fashioned" cocktails and haven't been disappointed, I'm yet to try it as some others have suggested as a digestif but I can imagine it'd work as it has those really deep, natural flavours and feel to it. Should last for ages as not a lot's needed to add to a drink, I'd recommend that everyone should add a bottle of this to their drinks cabinet

I don't drink alcohol, so I don't know about the use in cocktails; but this piece of aroma works great in Pies and desserts. Two dashes in every chess or fruit pie. And if you have the orange bitters, use them in lemon/lime/orange flavored pies, and even chocolate/nutella chess pie. Amazing.

not the cheapest item in the world but if you have any stomach pain or discomfort, try putting a generous measure in a small amount of tonic water & it does the trick beautifully. i would not be without it now!! this is my 2nd bottle!!

Good accompaniment with cocktails and spirits. Had great difficulty in finding product as most super markets no longer stock this product. Hence we were delighted to discover we could buy it through Amazon.

Created in the 1830s by a certain Dr Siegert in Venezuela in the town of Angostura, these bitters are a preparation of gentian originally intended for treating stomach complaints. It was adopted by the British Navy as a medicine for seasickness, but it was soon discovered that it partnered rather well with Plymouth gin. The classic pink gin is made by putting a couple of dashes of the bitters into a glass, swirling it around and shaking out the excess (personally I wouldn't waste any - it is after all 44% alcohol), then adding Plymouth gin, and serving with normal water to top up. Personally I think that tonic works very well. It does indeed add to the complexity of flavours with Plymouth gin. Apart from its use along with gin in particular and cocktails in general, the label suggests a whole load of culinary uses, though I have never personally ventured beyond a partnership with the Plymouth. One annoyance of the bottle is that as you tip it up to shake dashes into a glass, some shoots over the far edge of the glass in the act of tipping. You'd have thought that after 180 years they could perfect the design of the bottle.
