To put it into words is tricky as i could be here all day praising the thing, but as Mark said in his sleeve notes to this album, he feels that this is the most chilled cd he's ever compiled and i feel that this is the case. I also feel that it's his most beautiful too and with a starting song "Why" by The Memory Band, i am adiment that this cd will sell well!!
I found myself falling asleep to some of the songs, not because i found it boring. Far from it, i was in a trance and so relaxed i consiquently closed my eyes and dozed off.
Anyway. If you enjoyed listening to Mark's efforts ( Serve Chilled and Winter Chilled ) with Hed Kandi then this cd will be heaven to you - Basically the Angels have put their stamp on chillout for good!!!
Well done Mark. A massive cd!
With this ablum, though, there is a marked detraction from type. It's very downtempo, minimal accompaniment (often just a piano or acoustic guitar with a subtle bassline) and could be described as "Hed Kandi Unplugged" I suppose. With a hint of old-school Cafe del Mar, before that went down the commercial toilet. But sounds more "grown up", if that's the right term, than the other chill-out series - I'd actually buy it for my mum as well as for myself and not feel rediculous doing so.
To conclude: if you like grown-up downtempo chill stuff then buy this box set. It's only £15 and you get three most excellent CDs.
All three discs have a different vibe, but each in their own right are stand out collections.
