Andrew Cope (most people call him Andy) was born in Derby in the vintage year of 1966. He hadn't ever considered being an author until, one day, he had a random idea about his pet dog being a secret agent and, hey presto, 'Spy Dog' was born.
The series now runs to 22 books and has morphed into 'Spy Pups' and 'Spy Cat', although he reckons 'Spy Guinea Pig' is a step too far.
Andy's lucky that the 'Spy Dog' thing has happened. He describes himself as an 'accidental author' and is a good example of what you can achieve through unbridled enthusiasm and sheer hard work.
Andy's other job is as a trainer and researcher. he's been studying the science of positive psychology (happiness and wellbeing, basically) and has completed a PhD at the University of Loughborough. Yes, he really is a Dr of Happiness! Andy has developed a series of keynote talks and workshops that are now delivered in business and schools all over the world.
Andy lives with his wife, teenagers and an assortment of dogs, cats and pigs. He's an avid Derby County supporter so when he's not writing or working he trots along to Pride Park to get all depressed.
