The push button programming controls are a little more sophisticated than the dial controls found on similar ovens. The disadvantage with push button is that it takes longer to enter the cooking time and temperature but I still prefer this method of programming.
The 2 year warranty and spare bulb are extremely welcome and is one of the main reasons why I purchased this item. The longevity of the oven is yet to be proven as I bought it from Amazon very recently. With this in mind I am happy at this point to recommend this oven.
IT is certainly quicker than using the oven, and is easy to clean (I'm disabled so saves me bending down). I liked the idea of cooking meat straight from the freezer which it does very well. However I prefer my combination microwave oven for cooking cakes as they tend to dry out in the halagen, also the instruction book with the halogen suggests covering the food with tin foil if it is browning too quickly, however because of the fan, tin foil seems to want to pull up to the fan system unless it is very carefully tucked under the tray or dish. However, not all bad. I use it most days especially for grilling and roasting and the food tastes very nice. Don't know if cheaper to run that my micro, but you don't have to pre heat so perhaps this saves a bit.
The digital timer and temperature controls are very easy to get to grips with and it can be left alone after that to get on with the job really..!
It cooks things thoroughly whereas the previous halogens used to burn food on the outside and not cook in the middle...especially when baking...i tried lowering the temperatures etc but nothing seemed to make any difference..!
The Andrew James oven on the other hand is totally different...everything cooked to perfection...!
I couldn`t be more pleased with the product.
It also comes with a spare bulb and looks easy enough to replace should the need arise...another bonus as two previous halogens have blown bulbs and can`t be replaced..hence a new oven everytime..!!
All in all top notch product i would recomend to anyone..!
Apart from the fact it blew up after 2 months, (but was replaced with a manual model at my request), the concept of the digital control I think is flawed.
The temperature is set first, and is preset at 60, so it has to be reset to the required temperature which is a little long winded.
relative to just turning a dial up.
Next is the time, preset at 1 hour, so again this has to be reset, which again I think is longer than turning a dial.
If any adjustments are required to time or temp., during cooking, it has to be stopped, completely reset and started again.
Andrew James were very good once I sent the whole cooker back at their request, with their prepaid label.
I received a new cooker a week later. I would say though that communications could be better as I did not know the cooker was being delivered.
The 'non digital one' lasted about 2 years and then the fan bearing failed.
This 'digital one' lasted about 3 months. What a load of junk! I changed the lamp and tested the power to it, all is fine. It has to be the circuit board.
Yes, you get 2 years warranty, but it will cost you £25.00 to send it back and you will not have one to cook with for God knows how long.
I do recommend you buy one of this type of cooker, BUT! don't buy it 'mail order', buy it from somewhere that you can return it to, without it costing you half of it's value. Even then you have got to live without it for, probably, weeks.
Perhaps I should buy 2!!!
