Do you want to cook anything you would in a normal oven, but use around half the electricity and save time? Our Digital Halogen Oven does all that and more.
It's great for adding extra cooking capacity to your kitchen, or if you are low on space then ditch your regular oven and replace it with this nifty appliance that fits on your counter top.
From roast dinners to floaty light cakes, your oven is about to come your new best friend. Halogen ovens reduce the need for oil which means you can make fat free healthy meals. The self-cleaning function makes a mockery of scrubbing out a normal oven - while the ability to change the temperature and time while cooking is another advantage of the appliance.
With a maximum temperature of 250°C and a two hour timer, you can set your oven to cook even the most demanding dishes. It can also be set on low for defrosting and reheating food, so you could even say goodbye to your microwave as well!

So I decided to do some research and spent a week reading reviews in newspapers, magazines and on shopping sites. The halogen oven that most appeared to find topped the list of items at a reasonable price was the Andrew James.
I have had it a couple of weeks now and I find it easier to use and clean than my old one. The digital controls are simple to understand, and it has pre programmed buttons for cooking items such as pizza. It has all assets of a hinged lid, so easy to fill and empty. The volume can be increased through the use of the extender ring and I cooked a large chicken with ease. The only thing I have found that does not work very well is the toast making facility, it was much quicker to use my electric toaster.
I love the fact that it is preprogrammed not just to clean and dry the bowl, but also to sterilise it. As the lid often gets splashed with things such as meat juices, and is difficult to clean (you cannot immerse it in soapy water or put it in a dish washer), this is a welcome addition. People often complain the lids of halogen cookers become brown and rusty - however I have always suspected the "brown rust" is in fact caked on splashes of food that could be a breeding ground for bacteria. As someone who taught about X infection, I love being able to sterilise the cooker and I will be using thst function often.
It looks good, it is easy to use and clean and it is hygenic - what more could you ask from an oven.
I have been using Halogen ovens for over 13 years and do all my main oven cooking this way so I think I can give a fair evaluation.
The Andrew James Digital version was half the price of the Flavorwave and that is reflected in the fact that whilst in sensible usage it's fine, it's not as robust - this was most notable when I raised the lid to use the extension ring - a tad wobbly!
The Andrew James is 1400 watts against the Flavorwave's 1300 Watts which is fine but I am in the process of experimenting with how it deals with such things as a whole chicken in terms of temperature and time.
By comparison the handbook cooking times are somewhat vague and uninformative...I mean it tells you how to cook a 3Lb 7oz chicken uH!!.. what about the 'Per Lb/Kg' information...Doh!
The Flavorwave had 3 Fan speeds and when it was finished it would run on for a while to cool down the element etc..The Andrew James does not - Answer - set it on 'Cool Dry' and turn the time down.
The included Racks and such are by comparison to the Flavorwwave very flimsy although quite usable - fortunately I have a good collection of all sorts of racks etc..
There is much more I could say for and against but then I have been spoilt so I will just say that this is still a very good Halogen Oven and is very good Value.
It has much more to commend it than against it but NOTE! Halogen Ovens whilst far more efficient than conventional ovens do take a little time to get used to so don't assume it's no good on initial use...it may be you!
