The Easy Way to Feed Your Pet
The Andrew James 4 Day Automatic Pet Feeder is perfect for ensuring your dog or cat is fed while you are out and about - without giving them the temptation of eating multiple meals at once. Pet Feeding Tips
Tip 1: Clean, fresh, water should always be available. Make sure there’s always a bowl of water within reach and that you change it regularly.
Tip 2: Make sure food is stored correctly. Open cans should be covered and stored in the fridge. Use them within two days, write the date on them if you have multiple open cans. Resealable packets should be made airtight and used up before their use by date.
Tip 3: Scrap the scraps. Those puppy dog eyes may be irresistible but you have to be the stronger mammal. Treats should make up no more than 10% of your pet’s daily caloric intake and make sure you adjust their meals to maintain a healthy balance.
Keep wet food fresher for longer with the integrated ice chamber. By adding ice, you can reduce the overall heat level for a few hours depending on the temperature. This section can also be used to hold drinking water.
Let your pet know when dinner is served by recording your own personal message. The built-in voice recorder lets you to create a recording of your own voice to reassure them.
Reduce the volume of food in the trays by using the 2 capacity reducers. There’s also an adapter tray for foil containers so you can use individual portions of wet food in the original packaging.

Why Should I Use an Automatic Pet Feeder?
High weights are one of the biggest problems our pets face - an estimated 60% of animals visiting a vets each year are overweight which can reduce their life span by up to 20 years. An automatic feeder lets you control both portions and time, so you can still enjoy a lay in whilst Fido and Felix get their breakfast.
Can You Use This Pet Food Dispenser With Both Cats And Dogs?
This automatic pet feeder can be used for your four legged friends whether they are of the feline or canine variety. The battery operated plastic feeder has anti-tamper lid clips to stop them eating all four portions at once. It could also be used with other household pets like rabbits or guinea pigs so long as they are rampant chewers
Is It OK for Both Dry Food & Wet Food?
Depending on how long you are setting the timer for and the ambient temperature you can use this automatic dog feeder cat food dispenser for any type of food. Dry food will last longer but the ice chamber can reduce the temperature for a few hours to keep wet food fresher. The ice chamber can also be used as a small water bowl.
How Many Portions Will It Hold?
This pet feeder has 4 individual portions and can be programmed to open each department in turn up to 4 times with a maximum duration of 24 hours between each serving. This means it is great as a cat feeder with timer to keep your cat content if you are away overnight or for a couple of days. It also works as an automatic dog feeder so your pooch gets his dinner if you’re delayed at work.

I found the food containers to hold as much dry cat food as two regular cat bowls and as my two cats get two bowls of dry food between them each morning, this fit their feeding regime perfectly. It's great for while we're away, I have it set to feed them each day at 8am and a friend nips round every three or four days to top up the bowls. Both cats are happy to feed from it and the voice recording, while probably a gimmick, does sound off each time they feed.
Why 4 stars and not 5? Two simple reasons:
- The feed bowl does not align 100% with the lid on my feeder - this is probably me being a little OCD but it annoys me that it doesn't line up properly (It's almost there, but not quite).
- The timer needs to be reprogrammed every time you switch the machine off. So you can set the timer, use it for a few days, turn it off and then turn it back on again with the same time set. You need to configure the clock / feed schedule each time which is a bit of a pain.
Those things aside, it's generally a good product and does what it sets out to. As we only feed our cats dry food (IAMs/Purina) we don't have any requirement for keeping fresh food cool etc.. so I've not read up on that.
Make sure you give your cat a good supply of water if you intend to leave it for any duration - we have one of the waterfall type water stations that manages to keep ours well hydrated for 3 or 4 days when it's filled to the maximum so make sure you think about that if you do purchase.
We just fill the empty tray each morning so we never have to pull it apart, aside from the occasional clean, and if we go away for the night then I can set the feed times to morning and night, so we know our fluffy friend will continue to be fed. There's a few things that could be better, like a bigger LCD display and a backlight option as it's hard to see, and also a DC input port would be good so the batteries could be used purely as a back up, but it does the job and so far I haven't had to replace the 4 x D cells in the 8 months since we bough it.
I did record a message for her but that has since stopped working. No idea why. It's not a big issue though as we only use it for one meal a day if that. A mute switch would be useful for when you're not using the automatic feeder as the recorded message can be confusing for the cat to find no food there. If you switch the timer off then you have to reset all of the timings again to use it which takes precious time.
On the whole a good automatic feeder which I would recommend.
