About the Author

Ashley Chantler is Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Chester. He has presented papers and written essays, articles and reviews on Rochester, Cowper, Mary Wollstonecraft, Mary Shelley, Romanticism, Byron, Ford Madox Ford, Zbigniew Herbert, William Burroughs, the theory and practice of textual editing, and the short-short story. He is Series Editor of Character Studies (Continuum); co-editor of two essay collections, Translation Practices (Rodopi; forthcoming) and Studying English Literature (Continuum; forthcoming); and editor of Prize Flights: 20 Stories from the Cheshire Prize for Literature 2003 (2004) and Life Lines: Poems from the Cheshire Prize for Literature 2004 (2005). His poetry collection, In Praise of Paving, was published in 2003. He is currently completing projects on Heart of Darkness and Ford s poetry.
