I've read a lot of books about the Spanish Civil War and the build up to it....but this book is unique in that it describes the lives of the campesinos in their words, and describes a key incident. If you know the politics of the period, this book will both fascinate and horrify you with the poverty and bravery of the people of Andalucia.
