It's 3mm thick and has a good heavy duty feel to it.
A2 size is 420 x 594 mm
This mat has a total size of 450 x 599 mm, BUT with a grid size smaller than A2 (actual grid size is 420 x 570 mm). The magnified picture on the listing shows these measurements, but it is a shame there's no mention in the description. If having a full A2 grid on an A2 cutting mat is important to you, then this mat is not for you.
Another disappointing thing with this mat, is that although it arrived sealed, when I opened it, I immediately noticed numerous 'grease' marks/stains all over the surface and corners. Not so easy to notice if there's no light bouncing off it, but with a bit of reflection - you really can't miss it (last photo captures these stains on one corner). I've attempted to lightly wash these off - to no joy. They appear to be permanent stains!! In addition to this, there is also some bubbling of the green surface layer in the same bottom corner area and if I curl the mat upwards, the bubbling gets even worse.
Can't shake the feeling that I've just paid for something that came from a 'reject batch' or is a 'seconds' product. Maybe I was unlucky and a re-order will be ok? Either way, this is being returned!
The A3 size is 2 x bigger than A4. It is therefore large enough to store away or grab to use on the kitchen table when needed. I can now cut card without fear of damaging our dining table top and the grid lines are very handy when you want to line something up for extra accuracy.
I've seen the same for sale at a more expensive price, but for £3.49 you can't go wrong!
Delivered on time by 365-home-zone - the product is good quality and I would certainly recommend it. Many thanks.
It arrived soon after my initial order, my only issue being that as I live in the Republic of Ireland I had to use a UK Parcel forwarding service to forward my parcel and Amazon thought it would be "great" to ship this seperately to the rest of my items, making the cost of the mat(and the rest of my order that much dearer). Personally would have liked it if Amazon asked me before hand but anyway...
The cutting mat is exceptionally good value for what you get. It is self healing(something I was concerned about, as I thought it wouldn't due to the price). sturdy yet flexible and in all honesty, is as good as the more expensive ones that you'll pay €15+ for. I would definitely purchase another one of this brand if I ever need another and will be recommending it to others.
For light scalpel cuts it is 'self healing' in that you can't see them afterwards. Obviously, large gouges and burns wouldn't really heal.
The surface is slightly rough, so paper doesn't slide around. Mine was an unbranded one, with CM grid lines, angles and paper sizes markings. The rear was plain, otherwise the same texture as the front.
Needs to be kept flat, otherwise it does have a tendancy to retain its uneveness for an hour or so.
