This book is completely standalone from the Wrecked and Ruined series, it is connected in that one character from this book features in one of the other books, but you do not need to have read the others to read this. That being said I recommend you do reasd them because they are just that bloody good!
This book is quite dark in parts, it does contain scenes of sexual abuseso if that is a trigger for you, be aware.
Erica is such a strong character, she's resilient, a survivor and I really admired her. Slate is just a God among men! I think he may be one of my favourite ever book boyfriends! He's alpha, protective, sweet and has a rocking bod! He's a freaking heavyweight champ! Drool-worthy stuff, right?
Aly Martinez is fast becoming one of my favourite authors for overprotective alpha males - my favourite kind of males! I can see her books becoming an automatic one-click for me in future. I'm obsessed with this author's books at the moment, if you haven't read her yet then get to it! You won't be disappointed!

***5 Swooooooning Stars* Aly has becoming one of my fave authors. She creates characters that are likeable , loveable and doesn't give me headache, Everytime I finished her books, 'm feeling great and inlove , then I have the urge to read again .

The first few pages of Among the Echoes, I really wanted to back out and not read anymore, not because its bad but because the way Aly has written it made my stomach twist , squeeze and my heart was beating too fast. My imagination was overload and I felt like I was seeing front seat, it so vivid I felt I cant continue. . What happened to Erica was horrible and painful, and my soul died along with her

Here comes the redemption. fast forward 3 years . Erica aka Riley was in hiding and under witness protection program along with Leo aka Dave after that very very unfateful , unfortunate night. They kept moving and changing names , when danger is looming. No normalcy and no guaranteed future.

Enter Slate aka Adam - imagine me squeeeeeeling ok because as I can imagine Slate - gorgeous, ripped, serious but has ability to make you smile, professional successful boxer but hated the limelight. He wasn't a manwhore that beds different woman everynight, yup plus factor. He met Erica/Riley when he went to his getaway place after each fight. This story was a perfect blend of humor, romance and action. I love how Slate was so protective and so inlove with Erica/Riley even though there were secrets. Even though he sense that something wasn't right, instead he digs deeper and he fought for her. When he founds out the secret, he did not run but he loved and protected Erica/Riley twice as much.

I love Erica/Rileys' character.

Simply has to be the Full Monty *****

I was so excited to receive a copy of Among the Echoes, because Aly's debut novel Changing Course literally blew me away and I have been ever since then an avid fan of Aly's writing.

Among the Echoes absolutely did not disappoint either. Wow this was another riveting read from the mind of Aly Martinez!

This book starts off dark with a scene that will resonant with you throughout the book right to the end. What happens literally stays with you and lurks in the background and I have to say as harrowing as what happens to Erica is; Aly delivered it perfectly to build the rest of the book upon. This scene immediately sets your emotions and feelings on a high heat and to be honest for me I was constantly feeling the drama, the anguish, the anger and the need to be free from it all.

I was indeed put through a myriad of emotions again with Erica and Slate and indeed Leo. I could feel Erica's skittishness and her fear of all things that send her straight back to that night. I wanted to hold her up to and give her a strong shoulder. I also felt the pull of Leo and what he had also gone through. It absolutely doesn't bear thinking about if that had been me going through that, but in one way it did feel like it was me, because Aly writes so well I was right there in the room with them.

Slate is a perfect book boyfriend. Strong, sexy as heck, dirty as heck ☺ and an all-round decent guy who has wasn't looking for a romance but absolutely could not ignore the pull of Erica and I loved that he welcomed her stronger side but from the minute he met her wanted to protect her.

This really is another romance with a difference, so much more than girl meets boy.

The opening scene for this book was an absolutely jaw dropper, it was hard core, intense and totally blew me away.

Erica, after surviving an horrific experience, escapes from her nightmare using a new alias with her saviour, Leo. Both can never go back to who they were and have to keep looking over their shoulders wherever they end up. Never able to settle and with a new life of different cities and ever changing identities.

That is until they arrive in Ohio and ‘Riley’ comes face to face with her new neighbour Adam. Can he be trusted and is he who he says he is or is he one of ‘them’?

Slate is at the peak of his career as heavyweight champion of the World and after every big fight he takes a month out of the spotlight and returns to the place he is from, Ohio. He keeps a low profile and gives himself downtime until it’s time to return to the merry-go-round that is his celebrity lifestyle. But then he meets Riley and at first this timid and scared woman just freaks him out with her behaviour but after he gets to know her better he feels a need to protect and own her.

Riley is afraid to let him get close to her but after Dave/Leo pushes her to just let it be what she feels for Adam/Slate, she takes a chance that even though she knows could put them in danger she cannot fight what she feels for him.

The reader is not given an insight as to why Erica/Riley and Dave/Leo are on the run and what the impacts of that night have instigated but the danger is felt. For Erica to become involved with Slate could put them in the spotlight and give an open invitation to those seeking out both her and Leo.

Even with the dark, danger filled suspense background story, it was easy to fall for the developing relationship of Slate and Erica.
