I found this album whilst doing a spot of Amazon browsing, and I'm so glad I did.
For me, it contains all the essential ingredients of a brilliant album - an arc, and a cohesiveness, that takes you on a journey from the first opening note through to the final close that actually reconnects you back to the beginning. Also, it has wonderful, intelligently-pop sorts of tunes, coupled with complex and challenging lyrics. It's the juxtaposition of music and words that, for me, really makes this an outstanding listen, and it's a work that improves with repeated plays.
Very highly recommended!

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Bought this after a recommendation from a friend.
Excellent album with very catchy songs and also great lyrics.
The Indelicates are one of those bands you just keep going back to.
I think it's an album with very little in the way of 'fillers' pretty much all of the songs are great - my personal favourites are 'sixteen' and 'we hate the kids'

I bought this CD as a gift for my son. Unfortunately, I failed to realise that I had already given a copy to him at Christmas (he loves it). My son therefore returned it to the merchant using the appropriate documentation in mid-July. As yet, I have not received any refund for this item. I have emailed dodax-on-line who say that they have so many returned items to log that they cannot even be sure that they have received the returned disc. As it is now mid-August I am disappointed.

This is the best album I have heard in years. Great tunes and great lyrics that really make you sit up and think. Made me spend some time on Wikipedia too after listening to try and understand all the topics which only made it even richer. But you will certainly find yourself singing along to this as well. You will indeed want to be 16 after this, and hate the kids too!

Don't read this review. Buy the album, otherwise you'll never know what it sounds like. Seriously, don't trust some guy who has already heard it ... he might like a completely different kind of music - hiphop for example, or polka. He might have listened to it after a heavy night of drinking and be in a heightened emotional state that leads him to hate it simply because he considers his hatred to be something profound. So don't trust him. He's a drunk who likes to tell other people what music to like. Plus he likes Polka.

Like Simon Indelicate's other work, this album has an honesty that is lyrical and hard-hitting at the same time. It's very rare that I hear an album and have to listen to it again immediately; I did with this one. If you want to hear interesting lyrics and find yourself strangely beguiled by tunes that are insidious, buy this album. Buy it; listen to it several times; go out and spread the word about The Indelicates, and if you get a chance to see or hear "The Book of Job - the Musical" (written by Simon) grab it with both hands, because it is the best musical you will ever come across.

I have listened to this loads. It's a really catchy album. It is also quite dark & cynical in places, but not without the odd dry bit of humour thrown in.
I would say this album would probably appeal to Smiths & Morrissey fans, but anyone should give it a go really. 'New Art for the People' is a real stand out song & has a beautiful melody as the intro proves.
Julia in particular has a lovely voice & could well have been the next Nancy, had she applied to the BBC's 'I'd Do Anything', but I guess she wouldn't be in the Indelicates then & that would be a real shame.
