Product Description

From the Back Cover

In the fall of 2009, with the publication of her #1 national bestselling memoir, Sarah Palin had the privilege of meeting thousands of everyday Americans on her extraordinary 35-city book tour. Inspired by these encounters, her new book, America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag, celebrates the enduring strengths and virtues that have made this country great.

Framed by her strong belief in the importance of family, faith, and patriotism, the book ranges widely over American history, culture, and current affairs, and reflects on the key values—both national and spiritual-that have been such a profound part of Governor Palin’s life and continue to inform her vision of America’s future. Written in her own refreshingly candid voice, America By Heart will include selections from classic and contemporary readings that have moved her-from the nation’s founding documents to great speeches, sermons, letters, literature and poetry, biography, and even some of her favorite songs and movies. Here, too, are portraits of some of the extraordinary men and women she admires and who embody her deep love of country, her strong rootedness in faith, and her profound love and appreciation of family. She will also draw from personal experience to amplify these timely (and timeless) themes—themes that are sure to inspire her numerous fans and readers all across the country.

The mother of five children and grandmother of two, she lives with her husband, Todd, in Wasilla, Alaska.

When I bought this book, I was deeply interested in American politics and decided to read this book to learn more about the author. Sadly, I found that it was largely saccharine nonsense. Rather disappointing.

I picked up an audio copy of "America By Heart" to listen to in the car. As I drove I listened to Sarah Palin's thoughts on the Constitution, veterans, feminism, faith, family, the challenges and joys of carrying for a special needs child, just to list a few of the topics she muses on in this book. I found myself agreeing with her often and always appreciating her point of view. This is pure Palin. Her supporters will love it and opponents will hate it. This book is easy reading, or listening, not a scholarly tome. If you are a conservative, you will enjoy it. If you are not, well, I am sorry.

Sarah Palin's second book may not be of great concern to non-Americans, (I'm English, but have an interest in the American scene) but it will appeal to patriotic Americans who are less than happy at the way their country is going, (as they see it),and who believe in the basics of what she believes. Palin outlines a positive stance in a fluent and energising fashion and writes about freedom, family life and so on.

Simply put, if you're interested you'll like it.Many Americans will to judge from the sales of her first book, Going Rogue - and she's popular. If you're biased - politically or see Palin negatively - then maybe you won't. It's difficult to be objective with such a book as this. I'm at least interested, hence the rating given is personal.

An absolutely awful book from start to finish. Typical patronizing or should that be Palinizing manner. This has to be the worst book that I have read in many a year. Not worth receiving for free let alone the price being asked! One to avoid.
