Reading the Amazon reviews here, my main concern before buying this product was the quality of the elastic which holds it closed. My case arrived today, and I am pleased to report that the quality of the elastic and its fastenings to the case are both fine! I think what has worried people so far is that the elastic is not as taut as it could be when closed. For me this is a non issue, as I just bought the case to stop my Kindle's screen from getting scratched. The elastic isn't to hold the Kindle in place after all; a job which is handled by the hooks in the hinge of the case.

PROS
- A very sturdy and well thought out case, which has the 'leather smell' you'd hope for.
- The hook system for attaching the Kindle is well thought through and works well.
- The colour (mine's green) is great! Not at all lurid as I had worried- actually very pleasing, and I'm glad I didn't go for black.

CONS
- The elastic IS a little loose. For me this isn't a problem, but you might not like it depending on preference.
- The price is too high. £15 is a much more reasonable price point for this product. You're paying for the (presumably patented) hook system. Though it's just about worth it, I still feel a little peeved about this.

OVERALL
A great cover, which has no flaws aside from its price.

I bought this cover for my new Kindle, and was delighted with it - lovely colour, quality materials, the works. Then my kindle developed a problem whereby it kept freezing up and needing a restart, sometimes one which could only be prompted by plugging it in. I thought it might be a battery or software problem, but after reading some support message boards, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's the cover itself that may be the problem - apparently the metal attachments may be causing a short circuit. The problem mostly occurred when I took the Kindle in and out of the cover.

I don't want to blitz my device, so I'm going to take it out of its cover for a while and see if it changes things.

It's a shame, as otherwise it was the perfect tool for the job.

Check out this discussion, which nails the problem:

The cover is nicely made, but had two flaws:

- connecting *only* at the Kindle's edge is a bit flimsy. It felt like it might crack the casing if I was even a little bit too vigorous (e.g. if I dropped it and the cover swung open).
- it appears to cause your Kindle to reboot intermittantly and unexpectedly, but at least once a day:

This happened to me almost every day I had it in the cover. I can only think of a few days when it didn't.
Removing my Kindle stopped the reboots, and they haven't happened since, so I returned the cover.

After reading some of the reviews of kindle covers I wondered if I had been a bit hasty in ordering. A lot of people said that the cover colours weren't true to the pics on the site. I can't speak for any other covers, but having received my apple green cover with no light today I am more than pleased. The colour is exactly like a juicy Granny Smith!

On a more practical note, the hinging mechanism for attaching the kindle is metal and looks quite sturdy. The leather is of an acceptable standard and is well stitched with a sort of thick felt interior which looks like it should do a reasonable job of protecting the device from knocks and scratches.

All in all it is a nice thing but I think it is quite over-priced for what it is. A £15.00 - £20.00 price tag would have been far more justified.

Don't buy this product. It looks great - really nice leather and funky colour, but mine caused my Kindle to re-boot constantly and freeze. Amazingly, when not in the cover it works fine! Kindle Customer Support have been fanastic in sorting this out - though Amazon shouldn't be selling the product in the first place if it causes these issues! It's alot more expensive, but supposedly the lighted version doesn't have these problems (I'm waiting for it to be delivered, so time will tell).

Having bought a Kindle Keyboard I immediately wanted a strong, stylish cover to protect it. This cover does not add much to the bulk or weight, is sturdy enough to protect the screen and survive the odd accidental drop (so far). It also has resisted stains and scuffs. The elastic is a simple and ingenious method to keep the cover closed.
Yes, it is expensive compared to some of the third party cases out there, but non look as good as the official ones and there is a good selection of colours to choose from.
Seriously, could you get your Kindle out on a train in anything other than an official case?
