Peter Mayle is a British author best known for his series of books detailing life in Provence, France. He spent fifteen years in the advertising industry before leaving the business to focus on writing. A Year in Provence became an international bestseller. His novel A Good Year was made into a film directed by Ridley Scott and starring actors Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard. Peter Mayle lives in Provence, France. He has received numerous awards. British Book Awards named A Year in Provence Best Travel Book of the Year (1989) and Peter Mayle Author of the Year (1992). The French government made him a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honor) in 2002, for coopération et francophonie. Arthur Robins is a popular illustrator whose work has appeared in countless advertisements, magazines and animations as well as more than fifty picture books. Peter Mayle described Arthur's work as "witty, surprising and, in its own weird way, charming. They should put up a statue to him in Guildford." He teamed up with Laurence Anholt for the very successful series and collection: Seriously Silly Stories.

Oh Chilly Billy!!! such fond and loving memories of this lovely little book. I bought this as a wedding gift for my husband to be as we both would constantly lend it from the library as children. I have been looking for a copy for years and it was well worth the money to see the joy on hubby's face when he saw billy's face peering up at him out of the wrapping paper!

A favourite from my childhood. I was looking to find a copy a few years ago but after managing to contact the illustrator, was told that it came out of print because they were worried children would shut themselves in the fridge to look for him and get stuck. Luckily they've seen sense and my son can now enjoy this imaginative tale of the little man who lives in your fridge (well how else does the light know to come on when you open the door?). I'm please to see it still has the wonderful illustrations of Arthur Robbins still, who help bring this story to life for young children.

If you have a child who is just starting to read 'chapter books' this is an excellent introduction for them. And for teachers, it makes a great shared story to have in class.

My son bought this book from a bookshop when he was a child in the seventies. I read these stories to many children during my teaching career and they all loved them.Somehow or other I lost my copy, probably lent it out once to often. I can 't believe it was never reprinted and that that copy we bought all those years ago would be worth something today. Lovely stories. Children I taught couldn't wait to go home to try to open the fridge quickly enough to catch Chilly Billy out!

This was a childhood classic of my girlfriends, so got it for her birthday (at her request, I thought she was a bit crazy spending that much on a book!) Was in very good condition, I would go as far as saying like new. And it is a very good story, sure to capture the imaginations of children for generations to come!

It's a good book but I have read better . I recommended this to younger children who aren't particularly into chapter books yet . It's an easy read and Is very small ( as in pages) . Even though it is an easy read it's got a very good storyline and Is very imaginative because chilly Billy is a small man who lives in a
fridge .

So glad when I found this book. I remembered it from my childhood and thought I had imagined it! Bought to read to my 5 & 3 year old. They liked at first but then got scared of the man living in the fridge. I love but we have to wait a while to finish reading it to the kids.

We purchased this for our 6 year old as the book was a childhood favourite of my husbands. He loves it!!! The old books from back in the day have been selling for over £100 and so we were so pleased to see a new print run had been done. A great bedtime story for kids.
