I thought this was a really sweet love story. The storyline was engaging and held my attention all the way through. I felt that this story was very well written. There was never a time that I was rolling my eyes or felt it was dragging. I really liked that there wasn't an over abundance of drama. Don't get me wrong there was some drama, but it was usually short lived and not dragged out throughout the whole book. I also liked that the author didn't drag out getting the main couple together. It was sort of a insta-love but it worked in this case because they had a history together.
I will warn you…..that if cheating is a hard limit for you, then you might want to pass on this book. Normally I don't like cheating in books AT ALL, but for some reason it worked in this story and I wasn't bothered by it. I think that had to do with the fact that the author made it clear from the beginning what a DBag the husband of the heroine's was. There was never a time that I rooted for Samantha and Marc (the DBag husband) to ever work it out. You knew from the beginning that Lucas was meant to be with Samantha and just bad timing and other circumstances kept them apart.
We meet Samantha (Sam) and Lucas in this book. Like I said, Lucas and Sam have a past. They went to college together and Lucas was Sam's advisor. They met when Sam was a Freshman and Lucas was older. During the three years they were in college, they remained good friends, but Sam carried a secret torch for Lucas the whole time. She wanted to tell him but when she finally had the guts, something got in the way. After college Lucas left New York and moved to California. Sam's life moved on and she married Marc and had a child named Bella. Fast forward 10 years and Lucas comes back to New York for work and reunites with Sam. What happens after that is a really sweet friends to lovers story and also a story about learning to follow your heart and knowing what is best for you. I loved watching Lucas and Sam reconnect. And watching Lucas with Bella was heartwarming and totally swoon worthy. Lucas truly does make an amazing Book Boyfriend. As for Sam….I loved watching her come out of her shell and realize she deserved to be happy. I enjoyed watching her get a back bone when it came to Marc and his mother.
I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a second chance romance or a friends to lovers story. This book will have you giggling, crying, smiling and blushing, but overall it will leave you with a HUGE smile on your face. This is definitely one I will read again in the future!!!! I look forward to more book by this author.
First off, I LOVE second chance romances. Love them. The passion between the hero and the heroine seems to just heat up over time and their love seems to build stronger than ever imaginable. So this was right up my alley.
Second, there's an element in the book that I usually will not go for. Ever. But in this case, it's just done so well that I don't even consider that element an actual element, if that makes any sense.
Samantha is the epitome of a strong, beautiful woman. Even though she has moments of weakness where she feels not good enough, she pushes the feelings down and proves that she's amazing and beautiful and worth it. I love that she shows sometimes she has to get that courage deep from her toes, but still musters it up. To me, that shows an even stronger woman than someone who just simply possesses it easily.
Lucas. Oh what can I say? He's dreamy. Totally cheeky to say but yeah, he's totally dreamy. He's an all around good guy. He wants to be everything for Samantha and Bella and tries to have the patience of a saint to wait until she can be his. In the meantime, he's just all around incredible. He's funny, alpha, and truly one of the most swoon-worthy men I've read about in a very long time. He's a man in every sense of the word. Not because he has a fit body or because he has money. No, because he is there for the people he loves and will stop at nothing to make their lives happy.
Always You is a perfect blend of poeticism, steamy scenes that had me not willing to put my kindle down, and a love that grew over time, making my heart overflow. The journey I went on with this story kept me engaged the entire time, with just the perfect blend of drama, sweetness and intimacy. I laughed, I cried and I sighed. Made for a perfect story. Stephanie Rose is an author to watch, it absolutely blows my mind that this is her debut book.
And a total side note, I love the way Sam and Lucas reconnected - it was so believable to today's standards and allowed for an instant connection for me with the characters.
Always You is a second chance romance between two people who have never been more than friends, but after coming back into each other's lives, realize what has always been right in front of them. Samantha has always been a little in love with her best friends' cousin, Lucas. He was older, so sweet, gorgeous and protective. Too bad he only ever saw her as a younger sister to protect. When he moves across the country for work, Samantha determines that she is going to give up on her unrequited love and move on. Years later, one beautiful daughter, and a bad marriage later, Lucas moves back and wants to catch up. Both are in for a surprise when time does nothing to dull old feelings.
Lucas has always known that Samantha was special but didn't want to ruin their friendship. Now older and seeing her all grown up, he regrets never making a move because now she's taken. Instead he reinstates their friendship and over time their feelings grow. But what happens when the one person you want can never be truly yours. Lines are crossed and feelings exposed and no one is left unscathed.
Even with the struggle between what is right and what you know could be right, this story was very sweet and somewhat bittersweet as well. Lucas was a true gentleman and Samantha was always trying to make the right decision. They had many things in their way, but I thought they handled them pretty well. I loved seeing Lucas with Samantha's daughter and watching him work to make Samantha happy. Even if I didn't agree with all the decisions they made, both were in a difficult spot and were truly only doing their best.
If you're looking for a sweet love story with two people dedicated to each other despite the obstacles in their way, this is the perfect story. I've definitely become a Stephanie Rose fan and can't wait to see what other stories she creates.

“Superheroes need a girl they can save, so she can save them right back.”
Always You is beautiful and passionate story of second chances and true loving making a way. It is the debut novel from Stephanie Rose and has paved the way for her a bright future in the book world.
“Slow and steady wins the race, but keeping it slow and steady hadn’t done much for me in my life so far.”
Samantha watched the love of her life walk away and then she settled. Her love life is now a dead end with a capital M. She's done her best to be the steady hand and keep her family together. But, as things change in her life, there is still one uncharted path that she always wishes she could have taken.
“Lucas Hunter’s notice Samantha O’Rourke’s, but sometimes they mess up and let them go.”
Lucas is the one that got away. Devilishly handsome, sweet, and charming. He is witness to the adage “don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone”. On the outside he has it all. But, he is lacking the one thing that will make his life complete.
Samantha and Lucas have a history. But, they haven’t interacted with or spoken to each other much in recent years. This is about to change. There is no doubt that a force higher than us continues to cause Lucas and Samantha to cross paths. They are compatible in every way, when they were younger and now. Always You takes us on a journey to explore the complexities of their connection. With each turn of the page we are allowed to relive moments from the past as we fall harder for Lucas and Samantha. Each time they are together in the present we trip over our own feet trying to watch too closely, as if doing so would increase their chances of begin together. We are given the perfect story. The perfect guy, the perfect girl. And…the perfect ending!
“Alright, Pandora. Game on.”
This book should have initially made me feel like the situation was wrong. But, all I could think was that it was SO right. And I was screaming, "YES!" Not only could I feel every single emotion that Lucas and Samantha felt, I shared those emotions. They were intense and unwavering. Boy meets girl and crushes on girl. Girl meets boy and falls in love. Then, sexy, grown man reconnects with woman and is changed. Sensual and complicated woman becomes reacquainted with the man of her dreams and is allowed to love. Every hot and dirty word from Lucas's mouth made me savor the moment and race to get to the next scene. That mixed with his terms of endearment left my insides melted. There were so many moments that were amazingly intense and intimate. I also loved that the other special person in Samantha's life was a very integral part of the story. She was fun, witty, and affectionate. The character personalities coupled with Author Stephanie Rose’s fluent style of writing made this a story that should not be missed.
“You’re my favorite part of every day.”
Lucas moved away and Samantha married Marc whom she knew from school. Settling is never a good thing and that's exactly what Samantha did; she settled for Marc and his womanizing ways. He ignored her, left her and their daughter at home while he went drinking and sleeping around, and couldn't hold down a job for anything.
Lucas moved back to town and wanted to reconnect with his old friends. When he facebooked Samantha and asked her out to drinks he never expected to have all those feelings from years ago to resurface. Samantha was just as beautiful, sexy, and feisty as her remembered. For months they text, met for lunch, and sometimes met for drinks at night. Those feelings kept getting stronger and stronger and Lucas didn't know if it was just one sided or if Samantha actually had feelings for him, too.
Yes, this is a story of second chance love. Granted, the beginning of their relationship was a little unconventional but it didn't stop me from rooting for them and wanting things to work out in their favor. Samantha needed to be loved and cherished and Lucas was just the guy to do that. Samantha's daughter deserved to see her mother treated right by a man, Lucas was the one to do that. But will Marc give up his marriage? Nevermind, he did all the sleeping around but he didn't want to be humiliated or lose his marriage. Would he stay in a loveless marriage just to save face? Would he walk away peacefully or would he make trouble for everyone involved?
This is a great contemporary second chance romance. Lucas didn't have to redeem himself or reform his ways. There wasn't a lot of back and forth; they both knew what they wanted and they fought for it. A loveless marriage isn't something we dream of as little girls but, unfortunately, sometimes it happens. Settling also isn't something we dream of but life gets in the way and we, eventually, have to settle. Samantha settled but found her voice and fought for her happily ever after.........will she get it? Does true love always win out? Can you really get that second chance and make it count?
I fell completely in love with Always You and Stephanie Rose. She is a very talented author whom I will be reading for years to come. I can't wait for you to read and fall in love just as hard as I did. Thank you, Stephanie, for sending me an ARC and sharing your talent with all of us lucky readers.
