This series is addictive
Book 1 Three Steps to Heaven, got me started. I then HAD to buy Book 2 'Tilll I Kissed you, another one I couldn't put down - I never do what I have done with any series of books before this one was a MUST - The bonus for me is that I had started reading when all books were available. I often get hooked on an author's book and then have to wait patiently for the next one to be finished.
I just amazed by Pam's skill to keep you hooked in a book, The twists in this kept me wanting more, Even up to 85% in there was a totally unexpected twist WOW. And the end of it meant I just HAD to buy No 4 Not Fade Away. ANd am starting it right this minutes
What surprises are going to happen in this.
I highly recommend all three novels.
The books are all professionally-written and follow a familiar theme of two closely linked families through 40 years - along with their trials and tribulations - all set against an interesting background of a rock band, so there's enough glamour, sex, heartbreak and deceit to keep just about any reader happy.
My only criticisms of the series as a whole are first, that the pacing is so regular - not many peaks and troughs, that the most dramatic events don't stand out as much as they might and secondly, that the male characters are great when it comes to sex and drugs but there was not quite enough rock 'n' roll for me.
Overall, an excellent family saga that will have great appeal for women readers.
The twists and turns of this very human story ensure you keep turning the pages to see what happens next. For anyone who is considering buying all three of these either in paperback or for Kindle, my advice is, don't think twice, just do it. Pam Howes has a way of drawing you into the lives of these fictional rock stars and their families and I was sorry to finish this one. It's a great read and I really enjoyed it and I'm sure anyone else with an interest in rock n' roll and family sagas will enjoy it too.
This was written as a trilogy but hopefully there will be another one to keep us up to date with bad boy Roy Cantello!!
The plot is full of major life changes and the pace is kept pretty full on as we follow the fates and fortunes of the Cantello family, and again, I enjoyed the way the author included real life events such as the 9/11 disaster, to add a touch of realism and all local references from my very own stamping ground.
If you haven't read book one, why not consider Pam Howes Rock n Roll box set? All three books in the series, for the price of two.
