Because I was new to this genre I didn’t know what to expect so I went in blind and just let myself feel the story. Quinn was an expert archaeologist and her skills landed her a job working in England where she worked alongside a team of elite specialists in her field. Quinn had been out sightseeing taking in the beautiful countryside when she felt herself having to pull over. Something deep resonated within her to follow down a path which led her to an abandoned castle. Drawn to the forgotten castle Quinn made it her mission over the years to uncover it's history and the secrets it held within its eerie grounds, the empty hallways and the once occupied bedroom chambers. I got so hooked to the story from the prologue that I fell straight into the adventure with Quinn.
When the story took Quinn back in time I absolutely loved it and Archer had a lot to do with that, man I loved the guy! Lord Archer Scarcliff was broody, distant, quiet, unaffectionate and cold. The connection and brewing romance between Quinn and Archer gave me butterflies, made me smile and also made my heart ache with longing. Once Quinn was able to own Archer’s heart his walls came down and he was so sweet, possessive, protective, jealous and affectionate. She opened his heart to allow happiness in and become the man he wanted to be. The story had many loveable side characters and mine were Thaddeus and Nickie.
Always and Forever turned out to be such a little gem to read and I got swept into the adventure. I did have to keep on my toes being taken to the past and future and the role of the characters, but I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and I could not have predicted the twists and turns. Whilst the story was romantic, heart-melting and suspenseful I also found it to be an emotional read. Where I felt slightly let down was on the sexual content, yes I felt the intimacy between Archer and Quinn but I wanted so much more. I wanted to read about their passionate scenes and especially in part two where I so expected it, also the epilogue was beautiful but I wanted to have at least experienced the joy that led to Quinn & Archer’s happiness, hence why I rated this four stars but hated giving it that. With that being said it's still not held me back from re-reads, it's one of my favourite books by this author.
But the basis of this tale is about Quinn Shaughnessy an archeologist, who hails from the US.. Who from a young age has been on many trips to England, drawn to Whispering Winds a castle that no one seems to know much about. But the current Duke has given permission for an archeological dig.
Quinn is somehow sent back in time to 1704 where she meets the Earl and owner and builder of the castle Archer Scarcliff.
There are many twists and turns to this story. It's a real page turner. The characters are very sympathetically written. The romance is tender and sweet. The sexual content is not explicit for those of you concerned.
Yes there were a few minor editing issues. But nothing that interupted my enjoyment.
