I loved these designs as a child - we had them at school and at home.

As recently as a couple of years ago I was looking for these online and could only find them in second hand bookshops, partially completed and at astronomical prices.

I'm so glad to see that these wonderful designs are being published again and I'm looking forward to receiving my pattern pad for me and my family.

In the meantime ALTAIR now have a website where you can colour their patterns online - they are just as I remember them!

Thank you Amazon and Altair for allowing me to relive my childhood. I can't wait to try these designs out on my boys.

We had these pads in the mid-1970s and I used to love colouring them in and that is the only reason I ordered them.
I then found myself buying crayons and felt pens and wallowing in my distant 10-yr old self and having a wonderful time, removed from any responsibility as I played with them… highly recommended.

My children love colouring and drawing, and my son especially loves patterns and tesselation.

I tried searching for pattern books, vaguely remembering having some when I was little (in the 70s). And I found this series and immediately recognised the name and patterns.

This was my favourite pattern book when I was little. The patterns are fantastic, and you can look at them and see different shapes to colour in - eg spirals made out of hexagons etc. The possibilities are practically infinite.

There are only a few different patterns (maybe 5-7?) which are repeated throughout the book, but you colour each one in completely differently so its not a problem.

Its not just for kids either, you could easily while away a quite evening or two colouring in one of these sheets - but if you're a grown up try and stay inside the lines :)

Highly recommended for the little artist in your family. I'll be getting the rest of the series for sure.

Relaxing useful aid to mindfulness moments Thick paper means if using felt tip pens it does not bleed through
Need to relax and let eyes vacantly stare at page to allow patterns or picture to emerge . . Every will 'see' a different pattern or picture . . No right or wrong - very individual . . .

With the popularity of adult colouring books recently I remembered the Altair design books I used to enjoy as as a child. As I had no luck finding the title in the shops I searched amazon and success.
Patterns as I remember. The pages in the book are very thick more like card. No problem using felt tips as its one pattern to a page (blank on reverse). There are only 24 pages (12 patterns printed twice) which is a liitle disappointing. The number of pages is not mentioned in the details and I think this should be updated so others are aware. I also ordered design pad 2 at the same time and I will review this also

Great fun to colour in with either crayons, pencils or felt tips. Using your own imagination to create designs, the pad is my favourite colouring in book for chilling out.
The pad comes with 2 x 12 different patterns to colour in, some of the designs are quite similar.
The patterns are printed single sided on nice thick card that you can pull out of the pad carefully.
When I have finished with the designs I have used the pictures in other projects.

Altair Design books don't change, except perhaps they have got smaller... or maybe that is me growing up?
I have fond memories of spending hours colouring in the geometric patterns. I'm sure it will have the same appeal for my art-mad niece today.

Bought this for my niece for Christmas. I have yet to hear how she likes it, but it was great to see the designs and paper quality that I remember and loved from my childhood.
