Would really not recommend this even if you like fireworks. As many others have said.
This wasn't even worth the £14 as it could have caused more damage. Luckily my computer was saved, but would recommend going with corsair instead.
Hardware I had when it blew:
amd FX-8150 Bulldozer
GTX 3GB 660ti FTW graphics
Corsair 8gb 1600mhz RAM
Western digital 1tb 7200rpm hard drive
Crosshair formula V MOBO
700 should have been more than enough for this machine, this power supply must not be capable of what it says.
With the amount of bad reviews this item should really be taken off.
It has enough connectors to do all the jobs I will need in my pc and are not too close together, plenty of molex and sata connectors with the pci-e it's all great stuff brill for he money
It's not absolutely silent, but it is not noisy, I use mine on my media PC and it is more than acceptable, you really have to take noise level's with a pinch of salt, if you are in a silent room then yes this can just be heard but only just, but chances are something will be making noise somewhere and this PSU will certainly not drown many things out All in all great value and does the job so in my opinion it's scores 5 stars.
It is loud and i few times the fan of the power supply started making a loud noise. It went away after i shut down the pc and restarted.
If you have the PC in you bedroom and intend to leave it on at night i would not recommend this PSU.
So far I haven't had any problems with the product until today when my antisurge kicked in whilst playing battlefield 3 but I'm using the PC to write this review and no problems since. I'd say this PSU is well worth the money if you have the adequate protection to keep your expensive components safe. I'd definitely reccomend it to anyone because you can't really go wrong with the price. If you are concerned however about how stable your PSU is going to be and cost isn't an issue then I would reccomend spending a little bit more on a more established brand.
Note that this was in a brilliantly ventilated space, and my toes were freezing because of it's fans and I had the window open to make sure it wasn't overheating.
The reason I know that this power supply was the problem, is that I was using it about a week ago, not doing anything intensive (Facebook) and my PC crashed again after having a relatively good spell of time. Then, it decided to shoot sparks out the back and make some very unpleasant explosion-ey (that's a word) noises.
Everything then began to smell of burning and I swear I saw a little smoke coming out the back. My friend risked the integrity of his hand lunging in to pull the power cord out.
I see that Alpine is a very good and reliable company, I was amazed with the price of this but really didn't expect it to break. I haven't been able to check if this has sent a load of power through the rest of my PC (or something bad like that) that could have damaged other parts.
As a result, I see this as a complete failure and to be honest, I would expect either a full refund or a replacement from a respectable company such as yourselves. Sorry for any convenience, but I'm really unimpressed with this poor service and would like something to make up for such a let down.
Please, if you have any information on how to get such a refund, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or if you're one of the lovely people that work at Amazon, chuck another one in the post? That'd be great.

This was a nicely priced entry level PSU, that has all the basic connection needs (note: has no older molex connectors) and a decent wattage.Published on 13 Mar. 2014 by kevin smith
For the price this is a powerful PSU- will see how it fares in the long run but it is good so far.Published on 20 Aug. 2013 by Denise
This PSU is very quite and gives out very little heat in to the computer case due to the fan that draws air from inside the case to provide the cooling airflow for the PSUPublished on 28 Nov. 2012 by Paul Collins
This is the second power supply I have purchased and the price is cheap, I am very impressed. There are enough connectors for normal or for a higher specked PC.Published on 19 Aug. 2012 by G. Hill
This product is an utter disgrace. Blew up within hours of installation, burnt my fingers, blew every fuse on the extension cord. All round, terrible product. Read morePublished on 14 Aug. 2012 by C. Lynn
